get a mark 5 . the mark 5 is super modern sounding has insane punchy low end on extreme mode and is all around very versatile, there are hundreds of tone possibilites in this amp . the loop is amazing and cleans are just so deep and shimmering

everytime i think of selling mine i keep changing my mind and end up keeping it
I can back this decision as well

Nothing comes close to that WIDE recto sound. If that is what makes you smile you will probably be dissapointed with most everything on the market. There are many amps with tons of bottomend but none have that recto width.

Agreed. What will likely happen here is what's happened to most of us!! You'll try a few other amps only to go back to what's familiar and makes you happy while playing with a band. For you it seems a Recto.

It can be a long and expensive path only to realize that you should have stayed with what you loved in the 1st place.

Hate to be the voice of reason in this place of weekly flippers. :D

+1.

Sold my Recto and went on a tone quest. It finally ended when I traded for another Recto. That said, the Recto is my #2 as I mostly use a Mark V these days.

Thanks for all the input so far guys!!!!
I got a bunch of homework to do now.

I had a RM50 for a while and just didn't bond with it, all I had was un-modded modules so maybe thats why?

Ive spent a little time on a buddy of mines ENGL Screamer 50, I dig that amp but there was just a little something about the gain tones that I just couldn't bond with in the end.

The only other amp that Ive kinda bonded with in a long time is a Mesa DC-5 I scored off Craigslist for next to nothing a while back....I really enjoy running it stereo with my Triple Rec, by its self it just doesn't cut the mustard...lol

I have a VHT 2/50/2/ and a AXFXII coming one day but I highly doubt it is gonna make me happy for live use, but hey who knows.....

Go through all the models in the AxeFX and see which ones you keep gravitating back to.

I would say Extacy for sure on something that stands out and different! To tell you the truth
all tones mention above I can get from my Randall RM100!! With this amp you can have 3 full channels,
series and parallel effects loops, midi controllable, and easy external tube bias. Plus the option to run
any power tube you want! So I dare you to try one. The most affordable line to get into using all tubes
unless you like low end peavey and such.
Ya, I'm really diggin' my RM100. I think they would get alot more love around here if they were less affordable.
The market for used ones are extremely affordable. Go to the grailtone forum on randalls site. There is a custom rm100 there that is priced really good.

I sold my recto
got a Splawn Nitro w KT88
Best move I couldn't make.

I went from Recto's to a VHT Pittbull Ultra Lead. Similar characteristics to an extent. The UL is a mean amp, but can be too dry and unforgiving for some folks. The two amp acquisitions that really blew me away after my run with Mesa were my Diezel Herbert and Bogner Uberschall Rev Blue. They're just deadly amps. I bet you'd be over the moon with a Bogner Uber or Twin Jet. Those are my recommendations, like a few other cats listed above.
