What do you consider the essential pedals?

Tuner. Everything else is fluff. But really all you need is a good tuner, overdrive, delay and wah. Maybe a noise gate.

I don't need much more than this ...

I'm not ready for all of that.

Delay seems to be the most popular. I might get something like the Keeley Caverns Reverb/Delay.

Metal Zone. If you want to get adventurous, two Metal Zones.

Wah, chorus and delay are my essentials. I have more than those three pedals on my board but if I had to strip it down those three would remain.

Very dependent on style but a great clean boost or overdrive that is voiced to compliment the amp and delay are essential for me.

Everyone should own a turbo tuner. I see multi thousand dollar boards with a boss chromatic tuner! I think everyone should own a koko boost to. I really have not found anything better for boosting british style heads. El capistan is probably the best delay every made. And everyone should own a mxr 74 custom shop phase 90.

Tuner - I use the polytune.
Boost - TS808 or more recently the kokoboost.
Modulation - I like to have some warble availible, I use a Chorus and a phaser currently. But I could do with just one and probably would do fine with only a vibe aswell.
Delay - Some ambience for leads. I like my rythm tone pretty dry, so nothing there, but a guitar hero needs his "top of the mountain"-sound too. I use an El cap and TC Flashback. I have tried a dozen though. El cap, carbon copy, Deep blue delay, Boss DD-2, DD-3, DD-6, T-rex Replica are some others I've tried.

Tube-Screamer and Noise Gate are the two must haves for me. I like to have reverb and delay for cleans and leads which is almost a must have depending on the situation .... Detune pedal is also nice for cleans but not a must have.

Delay. I gotta have my echoes and all that. I only use a slight amount but occasionally will run a delay hard. I have a MXR Carbon Copy Delay (the bright one) and it is indispensable. I also use a Maxon AD10 Analog Delay because I find those Maxon delay's irresistible and it can be placed in front or in the loop. It does great in both.

My amps don't need a boost for what I'm playing but my Maxon OD820 is useful as a clean boost for solo's just to give them more of an edge to cut through the mix live.

An EQ is a must even if it's just for fine tuning your amp. I have a MXR 10 band EQ like you that I use often but I favor the Maxon GE601 6 band EQ which is a gem. It's very transparent and since you're only fine tuning your amp the 6 bands it gives you are the most important bands that you want to adjust, it also comes with a level control so you can use it to boost and fine tune your solo's instead. It is a simplified well made clear EQ that adds all the right goodies to your rig.

I like to have 1 or 2 FX on hand to play around with. The MXR EVH Phase 90. It will add in a slight bit of crunch for you and it's a wild Phase so take it as far as you like. The other effect I like to keep handy is a MXR Micro Flanger. I'm not a big fan of the Flange but it is fun to play around with. You have to have some fun pedals.

A Wah is good. I prefer optical pedals that allow you to lock the Wah setting in and also allows you to have control with a long or wide sweep in your setting. Morley George Lynch Dragon 2.

The rest that I have I use but they are in and then out of the line-up.

Tuner (Strobostomp), noisegate(Decimator) and OD (Keeley SD-1_....oh, forgot my WAH (Cantrell)

Suhr Koko Boost

I've been getting so many people recommending this throughout the different forums. I'm in love with the Maxon but may need to give the Suhr a try.

I'll never get rid of mine.... it's the best boost pedal I've ever bought.

When you guys talk about the Koko boost are you talking about the smaller reloaded version or the original two switch?
