+1 I can't really find any fault with that tone....I really dug it. The main reason I guessed revalver was because that delay was so clean.

It's funny you say that, because that was the only thing I didn't dig about the QR that I had. Some days the mids sounded weird to me. The amp definitely sounded better once I replaced the Mullard RI EL34's with =C= EL34's, but that mid thing still came back from time to time...just not as bad. I actually called DerekB the day after i got the amp to say that I was going to return it because of this. I decided to change the power tubes instead and it made a HUGE difference.

Didn't you change your Mullards as well? I've owned plenty of Marshall's (both stock and moded) and the QR was the only one that had weird thing in the mids. It's not about not having enough mids...I crank them on all of my amps...it's about the tone of them.

the clip rocks!!! Especially considering it was done in under five minutes..nice tone and cool playing to boot...
who says you have to crank the QR to get a good tone, right vlad?
and yes, you're nuts..the guitar sounds great....

Yeah... Chub's ears kill me! LOL!
How the fuck did he pick that out?
I've been saying that since I got the amp! You don't NEED to crank it! Yes it sounds better cranked, but it's very very useable at mousefart volumes.
That's why I sent you the clip! Because I tend to imagine things that aren't there sometimes!

The Quickrod does have a weird midrange freequency plain and simple. There is no getting around it. Scott picked a particular midrange that is not the norm on most Marshally type amps and that's what you, me and many others are hearing IMHO but.....
Im willing to bet that because we have been hearing a particular freequency for many years, our ears are always looking for that, so in essence I give Scott props for picking something unique.
With that said, I actually like the Splawns when they are pushed by an 808. I think the 808 adds back some of what Im looking for.

If you understood everyone's opinion you would be filthy rich and would run Dr Phil right out of Hollywood.
It's like this, in another thread you stated that the JVM was worth $800 to you and everyone respected your opinion.....nobody refuted it or offered a rebutal since it is your opinion. Now some have an opinion that they have issues with Scott's voicing but your having issues understanding this. Not sure how else to put this.

Vrad":2t6kkttt said:I don't hear the mids as weird. I hear them as high mids. I actually dial it in similar to most Marshalls I've played (except the SL). Less treble and presence. More bass. Roll back the mids a bit. Maybe I'm going deaf.

LOL! Well see? That's just weird! I added the OD808 to ADD HONKINESS! I heard it as being too precise. I wanted hairier mids!
