rod...stiff...??? quit it!Chubtone":ci6wiaus said:I will agree that if you dial this amp in visually to look the same as when you dial in a Marshall, it may sound different than you would expect. I have a recording project that I am doing. I have Splawn tracks on the left or the right. They're next to or opposed in stereo from Marshall JCM800's, vintage Super Leads and my Mojave Peacemaker. Some tracks have an Orange Tiny Terror on them too. The Splawn in no way sounds "weird" next to Marshalls. As a matter of fact, if I didn't label the tracks, I would forget what I used sometimes. I dial in the Splawn to sound right. The same thing I do with my Marshalls. I use RADICALY different knob positioning to get there.
Some complain of the "stiffness" in the Quick Rod when it comes to soloing. I know what they are talking about. But I come from playing plexi's where you are fighting AGAINST the amp to solo. You ever try and solo on a JCM800 with no boost? It's freaking terrible. But boost a JCM800 or crank and attenuate and even boost a Super Lead and you have a different animal. I boost my Quick Rod too. It is not "stiff" at all with a boost. It kills.
