Slayer’s tone killed up to and including RIB.
SOH and Seasons were great also but much more tame.

Huge net you are throwing here. Most other amps you can probably define. A 2203 can be used and has been used in so many different ways. For example two vastly different that I love, Angus Back in Black vs Mastodon.

It was a heavily modded 2203.
That is what makes this thread tough, as most of my favorite JCM800 sounds were modded, or boosted all to hell.

It was heavily modded by Elan Memran.
This mod.
After years of searching, I’ve finally found one of these. If you’re not familiar, Elan Memran had a shop in LA in the 80s and would do these high gain mods for guys in the area. Usually add a couple gain stages, pull boost on the bass knob, and a noisegate circuit (knob on the back). Wiring inside was notoriously messy. They weren’t really on the map until Dino Cazares used them on the early Fear Factory albums, and by that time the shop had closed and iirc the guy moved back to Israel. So there are very few of them out there.

He can be annoying live. I think he gets bored or something. But he’s literally one of the best voices ever. Definitely not lacking in talent.
