Let's Go Bowling (ska band). They played with Sublime and No Doubt on tours, just never broke. The keyboard player is a friend of the families. Last I saw him, he was laying tile for a living and playing in a few bands on the side...

I might be the only Canadian that hates the Hip but to me they are shit. then again, my vote was for King Diamond and he sings like a deranged banshee.

Blackfield
Umphrey's Mcgee
Tim Christensen
The Nines
Pugwash
Jellyfish

Ya, if you like King Diamond I can't really see the Hip being your thing. I used to not like them, but I like some Hip now.
It was so overplayed up here in Canada.

Smiths, Cure, Sonic Youth <- Do those count as unpopular?

If not, then Swervedriver.

this band was huge in indie rock circles but unkown everywhere else.

These guys have a huge underground following....

On a serious note: I LOVE Progressive Rock,
and this is it, at its Finest!!
It's an Epic type of song, Long, lot's of Time
Changes with Strong Melodies, Tight Musicianship.
Excellent for Driving in the car at night, very soothing.

I saw these guys back up Dream Theater and I didn't
want them to get off stage!
Listen for yourself, Sharing Great Music is one of the
finest gifts you can give to someone.

No, they are not unpopular

Big Wreck for sure for my number 1 spot. CRIMINALLY under appreciated band.

Karnivool for number 2, although their popularity is growing thanks in part to their last album Sound Awake.

Number 3 would have to be Sheavy

Wolf...great swedish metal band....not sure if they're still together. Check out "Evil Star" and their self titled cd, and "Black Wings" which has a great cover of Mercyful Fates "A Dangerous Meeting".
