311, since you are a splawn forum mod have you ever heard of questionable build quality? I haven't opened up the SS, but the other two are impeccable.
Not over there but there were a few guys here that claimed they had some issues. By in large I would say they are issue free. :dunno:

That were my thoughts as well. I have yet to hear of a problem nor see I splawn with anything but impeccable gut shots.

Does he still use heyboer for iron?

I know of one RTer that had some issues with multiple cold solder joints on his. Not sure which model or yr but there it is. There's a lemon in every bunch. It happens.
But I also know Scott would probably take it in and fix all that free of charge, from what I've heard at least.

OK. Fair enough. Scott is a really nice guy, and I am sure he would handle the situation properly. There are always lemons. I just didn't know what the issues were.

He even went far enough to help me figure out how to mod my big ones for switchable tube selection between KT88's and EL34 's.

My Splawn Supersport is massive sounding. Can do plexi and jcm very well.

Yet, the guy was asking about the new 20 watt Marshall. Nobody cares about your Splawn

Damn, if you're that much of a dick in just your second post, I can't wait to see what the future brings to us.

Any of you guys have the 20 watt plexi? What do you think about it? I've been eyeing getting a 50 watt Ceriatone or maybe another Splawn but since the 20 watt plexi and JCM are at ZZounds I'm tempted in grabbing one of those.

I had the SV20H. The honeymoon wore off in a week. It needs volume to get dirty, and it's loud as shit. Its loose in the bottom end, and the FX loop is a tone sucker. Even with a boost, it was too loose for my tastes, and it DID NOT get along with my Power Station 2, at all. I quickly unloaded it.

I have a Splawn Quick Rod now, and with the loop volume knob, it's the clear winner. More focused, tighter, and way more versatile. No need for an attenuator, I sold the PS2.

Yeah. That rings a bell. I can't remember who it was but he was a respected member here. I would have no real reason to not believe him. That said, I also find it hard to believe that Scott would actually have the ability to create a cold solder joint LOL let alone let one go out of his shop like that. I believe he probably did most of the soldering even back in the day when he had a larger crew. I believe he is a one man shop now.

I'd have to see the issue with my own eyes.

I also believe that everyone is entitled to their mistakes and lemons. The important thing is what is 99% of the rest of the product like and how do you treat your customers and issues that do pop up?

He has always been real helpful to me and I bought mine used - so no warranty transfer.

Perfect! That tells me everything I needed to know. I think I'm going to go with a SuperSport or a Pro Stock. I hate that I sold my Splawn cab with CB65's though. They sounded great with my previous Splawn heads.

Go for it. You'll be much happier.

However, if you're fixed on a Marshall, the Mini Jube blows the SV's doors off.

I really just want a Marshall type sound to have to contrast my KSR. I really enjoyed my QR and Nitro. The JJ jr is high on my list too but the thing I'm worried about there is how it does at louder levels. Then again getting a Ceriatone would be nice to have to tweak.

I’d check out the Landry LS30 before you make any purchases

I will try to get a quick clip up today if you want. You would have a better idea of the lower gain range.

  I just talked to him a minute ago so I hope not.

Not sure if your trying to keep it on the cheaper side, but if not I'd also be looking at the Germino Masonette. I had a Club 40 and liked it, but kinda wish I had gone for that little guy. The Club 40 needed pedals for my taste. It absolutely ate pedals and sounded amazing, but I think the Masonette would have got me closer without pedals maybe.

Geez...sorry Mr Landry.

here is a half decent taste of the low gain it offers.

Never tried the newer 20 watt Plexi, but just to chime in..
I had the 20 watt Silver jubilee and decided to returned it.

Why?

20 watt is still too loud for home use / practice in a lot of scenarios.
5 watt mode sounds like crap.

Just in case some people think, oh I can buy that 20 watt amp and crank it.
