20 watt plexi

Never tried the newer 20 watt Plexi, but just to chime in..
I had the 20 watt Silver jubilee and decided to returned it.

Why?

20 watt is still too loud for home use / practice in a lot of scenarios.
5 watt mode sounds like crap.

Just in case some people think, oh I can buy that 20 watt amp and crank it.

Totally agree on the wattage. @1w@1m a celestion V30 puts out 101db. 20 watts would be around 113db (my math may be wrong, I am stressed and overtired) that is LOUD. If you don't have a good master, I would pass.

Has more to do with your speakers than amp wattage as far as volume goes. 5 watt mode sounds like crap on pretty much everything. Why neuter the amp? Can you really be surprised?

I wasn't super impressed with the Master with my 20w Silver Jubilee.
It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't a Friedman's master volume!

I still think that the Marshall is overpriced tbh.

Maybe go JJ Jr. or splawn. I certainly would not imagine that for the money a Marshall compare to those (have not tried the JJ Jr.).
