Ah, someone else with a hardcore/punk background. Cool!

I come from metal roots but I played in hardcore and skate punk bands in the 90s. SO many amazing punk, hardcore and ska bands in the 90s. Some of my favourite music of any era.

...and to think I forgot Rorschach, Deadguy and Kiss It Goodbye

While I feel that Pantera did break up too early, personally I always saw far beyond driven as their peak, everything after that was great but didn't compare as a full start to finish effort. Just my thoughts though.

Another good one to mention would be Zakk Wylde's pride and glory. I dislike BLS a whole bunch and really feel that he was way better at southern rock than meathead rock.

Gotta agree 100%. Pride & Glory is still the best solo stuff he's done

I can't agree with this enough; definitely! If you could wear out CDs, I would have worn out the Pride & Glory discs (to include the bonus disk) and also Book of Shadows. Every time Zakk's bands start leaning back that way, it reminds me of what could have been, with Hangover Music, the Song Remains Not the Same and Unblackened. Hell, the bootlegs from that period were killer too!

Someone mentioned Liquid Tension Experiment, and definitely agree with that, but conversely I'm pretty happy that Dream Theater and Portnoy split; his never-ending quest for heaviosity was killing the band, and as soon as he left, they started writing more coherent songs with less meter changes.

Another thing that sucks is being in a band that broke up at a time right before you felt something big was gonna happen or while good things were starting to happen.

I am only going to list bands that are broken up, not ones that replaced a member or two or three.

Motley Crue (ok they will be done after current tour)
Badlands
The Beatles
Led Zepplin
Underoath (original line up)
My Chemical Romance
Anberlin
Jack Off Jill
System of a down
Many Many More I cant think of right now....

Bands I wish would break up.
Guns & Roese- Axl cant sing worth a damn anymore and they are just not the same. I dont even want to see a reunion
Metallica- Their tone sucks ass these days, I have heard kids going threw a line 6 sound better.

Kyuss. And many of the above, especially Pride and Glory.

KYUSS... how the hell did I forget to list them. Easily one of most influential bands in music history imo. Think of the amounts of stoner rock and doom bands that would not exist or would not be the same without them.

...hmmm... OPETH!!!! ;-)

I also see Opeth as broken up. Their material since Ghost reveries has taken such an awful plunge. I am not one of the people that views Opeth as crappy now because Mikael stopped growling or screaming, I like his melodic voice a whole bunch. My reasoning for them being dead to me is that theyve become a retro 70s prog band with almost no resemblance of what they once were. The music is no longer brilliant and epic, it's boring and sleepy.

There are alot but for me it is a tough choice:

Dead to Fall. Short lived and awesome.

Comic Arson (look them up, my old bandmates from back home and they were awesome)

Guns and Roses (I want the original line up, to me GNR broke up)

I hear ya.....Cornhole put out some good tunes.

Cornhole was a great bunch of guys. I cut my teeth touring with them in the 90s. I was actually talking about my death prog band, Anal Blitz though..

Another great one.
Loved the Album "Anal Blitz-Explodes" with the banned cover art.

Cornhole and Anal Blitz ? I see a theme here...how about a new band, Dirt Chute or Bunghole ?

Dirt Chute was what they called Glassjaw when he was a club dancer out in the gay circuit.
Nothing to do with the bands prior.
They had to let him go once he started to put on a few pounds.
