Someone is butt hurt about Periphery haha. You like the music but get offended by the banana? I’ve listened to that song so many times and never even noticed that but I listen with my ears, not my eyes

I certainly like Periphery better. By percentage, most of Metallica's catalog is pretty shit.

Don’t mind the song that Tech shared or the one you shared but dogging periphery while following up with that as “great” in parallel with preaching production is wild. At the gates had some decent releases in recent years. Not sure I would call it the best, but certainly better than the band mentioned in the thread title

That's putting it diplomatically, ATG (even their newer stuff) is lightyears beyond periphery compositionally, especially structurally and melodically
periphery do that really annoying "modern guitar" thing where every "complicated" sounding musical passage is just riff salad and choppiness over really boring basic chords

Earnestly, I really enjoyed V after not being as into IV. I think I was burnt out on the whole scene when IV came out. After a little break, V hit just right.

Both of those dudes would've been getting their ass kicked. Guy on the right was basically a moving target anywhere he went. Then once it was metallica and pantera era if you didn't have shaved sides under that long mop you were also getting called a fag and were a target for extermination.

Maybe you wouldn’t get any differing opinions if you made this thread on TGP or the 7 string forum and you could all agree with each-other.

Haven’t really checked out any of their albums but now I have some Periphery & At The Gates to listen to.. So far everything has been pretty dope as far as instruments go. Vocals are another conversation…
