My XTC shit all over my roadster... roadster is long gone, XTC is here to stay. :)

pete

My Roadster can easily keep up, compare them almost on a daily basis.

I lost a lot of enjoyment with my Roadster after my rackmount pretty much pulverized it tone-wise. The roadster did have a much better clean tone, and was a hell of a lot more versatile... but for high gain mayhem the rackmount was better to my ears. I'm looking forward to seeing how the Uber does vs the Rackto - it's been awhile since I compared them. : )

All the above is just my opinion, as is yours. Whatever you like is what you should use! :)

Pete

I'm not a Recto elitist, I could get a good tone out of any of them easily.

Maybe your idea of good tone and my idea are different. Or maybe you just set the bar a lot lower and will settle for less than I will.

Elite enough response for you, Sparky? :)

Yes, actually. Explains what I thought all along.

+1 on the XTC - my 101B is going to be the last amp I would sell of everything I have right now... current list of amps I have that would be contenders:

You do realize the 101B is considered the shittiest of the xtc line by most Bogner aficionado's I hope. If you want to live up to your puffed up image dump it and get a 20th anniversary.

No puffed up image here, I played a friend's classic and I prefer the 101B. What cracks me up about my 'elitism' is that I *owned* a roadster and I wanted to like it - if it lived up to the hype it would have been perfect for me. A great clean channel, a plexish/tweed channel, and the recto orange and red channels. But to my ear instead of delivering the sonic goods it just homogenized each channel to where it was versatile but lackluster - again, to my ears, maybe not to yours.

How am I an elitist when I owned the gear and didn't like it? You care a lot more about my amp decisions than I care about yours - I could give an ant's fart on a windy day regarding your love or hate of the roadster. Why does my dislike for it bother you so much?

Don't project, this is your trip not mine.

Love/hate what you want, doesn't bother me. I hate the Roadster (and every other amp I own) at times depending on my mood.

Your writing style definitely puts a spin on the way you come across that's for sure.

I'm sure everyone can guess what I'm gonna say so I won't bother :-)

With Petes work on the Recto...I don't miss my golden era or later 2ch Dual Rectifiers. In fact I now have 3 slightly different tweaks on that tone :-)

Not projecting, but if you're going to call me an elitist and take shots at me out of the blue, back it up. I posted my experiences, yours differed with me and then I suddenly became some sort of corksniffing epicure of the amp world. For fuck's sake, I own a FabAmp - doesn't that keep me out of ANY corksniffer club? :)

BTW, for you dudes who are looking for super low end... are you playing with a band? I bet your bass player HATES your ass! :)

Pete

For good reason, IMO. Your guitar tone will only sound better if you're staying out of the way of the bass, too.

Pete's one of the COOLEST guys I have delt with on this or any forum. Never came across snobish and answered all my NOOB questions a few years back when I was getting into MTS amps.
But with a Kick ass amp collection that he has.......I wonder if he does carry a cork around to sniff..... :D
JUST MESSING WITH YA PETE!!

What sounds best playing alone usually sounds like crap in a band mix, at least in my experience. Of course, now I'm a band elitist or whatever. :)

Try to see outside outside of your own ego and read how the threads progressed between us. There's nothing wrong with having strong opinions, it means you're passionate about what you believe. So are we all. You stated your opinions with finality, I just threw it back. If you like to type strong opinions then assume not everyone will agree. It takes two to tango, you know that.

I'm not the type of person to agree with whatever anybody posts just to fit in.

We go back along way and have been through this before, maybe you don't remember. :)

I don't want to argue - let's be pals. :) We can just agree to disagree. And to be honest, I don't remember any history between us, it's the freakin' internet. I have better things to remember like Mr Burns Simpsons quotes and tube data. :) I should put a thing in my sig that says 'my opinions are just that, opinions, not facts, like yours'. :D
