Anyone ever try boosting the Blues mode of a Tremoverb for a modern metal tone? I have a stock Boss SD-1 and I was thinking of trying this at band practice later today?

That would require a lot of boosting lol 
love my tremoverb but for that purpose; either modern high gwin or boost vintage high gain mode. Play it thru an oversized recto cab and you will be in modern metal promised land

Gotcha, unfortunately I don't have an oversized Recto 4x12. I use a Marshall 4x12 1960A G12T75's & WGS Retro 30's x patterned with my Tremoverb head. I've heard debates between the oversized versus the non-oversized Recto 4x12. I've heard that Standard rectos are a little bit flubby compared to non-oversized?

I play thru a 1960 with all 75s as well. It sounds nice, but the recto cab with V30s just makes it really shine. I have not tried a standard recto cab; but the trick is to leave the bass off and bring it up to taste. In my opinion, at least. I do have an older Mesa/Boogie halfback angled 4x12 with Mesa MC90's I tried the T-verb with but for some reason just didn't sound right no matter how I EQ'd it and with different guitars.. I'm actually seeing if anyone locally possibly has a Recto 4x12 with casters they might want to trade for my mesa halfback 4x12

On my Triple, an SD-1 into the Pushed mode in the Green channel gets damn heavy.
With the Marshall cab, try sealing it (silicon caulk or duct tape around the baffle and handles: make the cab as air tight as possible). Makes a big difference with a Recto.

I have never played thru a non recto boogie cab. There was a coldness I could never dial out of the 1960 cab. Mesa's are very picky and they inspire a ton of knob twisting. Those are really the only mesa cliches I found to be true for me. My T-Verb is from the same era as yours. They are awesome amps.
