I guess my problem is I care too much about the random people that come on these sites looking for answers from those with experience.

I have mostly found forums not very helpful although this one is generally better than most.

As for 4x20 vs 4x25, any time I used a 100 watt head with four greenbacks pushing any volume there was a real risk of blowing speakers. And I did several times i.e it was inevitable. I'm not sure the 5 extra watts did jack to prevent it so I just see this entire thread as one demonstration of a bunch of hair splitters wasting their time talking vs doing. One of the more worthless arguments I've seen on this site.

Yeah but you're a blues player, this is talking high gain. There's a big difference.
When you push an amp into saturation you're going past the clean output of 100 watts; pushing up to 200 watts into a 100 watt cab. High gain power amp distortion = buttmud. High gain players get distortion from the preamp side and keep the power amp under the listed power rating.

That's because you don't play high gain, and were cranking your amp for dirt. Which was covered in the 30 whatever pages if you wanna catch up.

The difference between you and us is the type of amp/tone you go for. I would never recommend you to be close at the clean volume you use.

For the way we use it with high gain, it is mostly a non issue
