To the OP if they’re still around, I run a 50w EVH through an EVH 2x12 with I put the EVH speakers in, at gigs and it sounds glorious.
Math or no math, (Maths is the British term) it works. No blow speakers or amps. It’s not the 100w nor the 4x12 but would expect a similar outcome.
My pal safely runs a 100w through a 60w 2x12 with Heritage G12H30 75hz speakers. It’s not blown. Neither of us are running the amps full tilt.
The aspect of amp vs cab load and capacity is based on the amp running fully open and what the cab rating is able to handle at that point. Most people simply aren’t lucky enough to get their amp loud enough to touch the designated 80w in the EVH 4x12, even at gig volumes.
BTW, the Celestion EVH speakers are closer to 25w and only labelled as 20w for historic reasons.

I'm sure trade/resale value will be better also if you decide to go a different route in the future.

Everyone loves those Karnivores too and many like them better than Vintage 30s.

But officially due to the 20 watt rating it's important to keep a distinction out of concern for possibly voiding not just the speakers warranty but possibly the amps if you have issues and you buy these individually from a retialer or Celestion.
In general don't understand what you're hung up about or others are hung up about and it's just common sense and something to be aware of for safety and warranty.
Honestly who gives a fuck and it's just a waste of time tbh at this point. The cabs and speakers ain't bad and well it's up to whatever the player is comfortable with and to know what they are getting into with these speakers/cabs etc etc.
