Dude I didn't think it was possible, but now I'm even more excited. I'm not a huge fan of buying an amp and then having to roll a bunch of tubes thru it before it sounds perfect.

This is gonna be a long week.

I still love my 5150III 50 watt and matching 2x12. I Also had a Deliverance and played them side by side for a month or two and kept the 5150III. Does everything I need Set channel 1 gain at 1:00 to 1:30 and you will have no volume change from clean to channel 2 and can use volume knob on guitar as well. This is how it was designed to be used unless you just want a clean channel.

  Yeah I know the "wait" well. Not to dampen your excitement but this stuff is so subjective. You may get it and feel the need to try some different tubes or you may not. It works for me as is.

Thanks man; I'll keep that in mind!

Played it for a WHILE at GC on numerous occasions....I loved it and couldn't get it out of my head. I know it's subjective but I just dig that you didn't feel the need to change anything at all. I'm not what I'd consider overly picky...good clean, good rock, and bangin metal and I'm fine.

I hear ya man. I am still picky but I'm trying to get past being overly picky because that has lead to too much money being wasted on flipping gear. I think if you enjoyed playing at GC then you'll for sure enjoy it in your own environment with your other gear. Like you said... good clean, good classic rock, and a nice heavy tone for leads and or heavy riffing when I want and I'm fine. This amp does all that for me very well.

I had a 5153 for about a year. It does sound great at 6:00 am practice volume. I traded it for a JVM410. After 6 months with the JVM, the 5153 is a better amp for what I like.

Congrats on the new amp!

Do you have the 899$ EVH striped guitar?

I can't play any Van Halen well enough to rock a rig like that.

  I do not now nor will I ever have an EVH striped guitar.....and I will never be able to play any VH well enough for that rig. I'd feel like a total poser even in my own house if no one ever saw it. :D

Glad to hear another advocate for this one over the JVM.....only one I've ever heard that I liked was a friend's that he modded himself. I don't know what he did to it, but that thing is saturated beyond and beefy like you wouldn't believe.

Here's a a little demo I did of mine when I had it to make your wait even worse :D

Loved the amp, only got rid of it because I'm a gear whore... as you can see in the video the "volume jump" was a non issue for me... I used the head for MANY gigs and used it as a 3 channel amp, green for very clean stuff, blue was my main rhythm and red for leads, had no issues what-so-ever...

Edit: Please excuse the playing, as you can see I spend more time staring at the TV then concentrating on playing anything cohesive lol... but theres a good representation of clean/rhythm/lead tones...

Dude! That was a great representation brother...thanks for weighing in; always love your vids. Blue channel was BRUTAL. Loved every second of that. I'm gonna have to fight myself to not saturate the hell out of it.

Dug the clean channel too...G Major II in the loop? Sounded great...just enough delay to make things interesting.

Maybe I'm just weird. I run the gains on channel 2 & 3 at 2:00.

Blue 12:30 or so, Red 9-9:30 here. Maybe bump it a little for a low output pickup.
Amp has stupid amounts of gain.

Anyone see that vid clip comparing 5051 III to Extacy? Sounded super close.
