Yup. Peter designed and manufactured prototypes, series manufacturing with a partner from the US

I got the VH4 pedal today. However, I wasn't able to film any demo yet due to camera issues.

First thoughts, it's of very, very good construction; all thick aluminum except for knobs and the pots feel very nice. It comes with a 12v power supply with multiple outlet adapters. When I first turned it on, I was surprised how bright the indicator LED was. Foot-switch is perfect.

Mind you for my thoughts on sound, I was using a 1x12 Crate combo that was practically free and stops working all the time. I set the EQ on the Crate all to 12 o'clock and used exclusively the VH4's EQ. I was surprised (and pleased) how dynamic the gain was while still being so saturated. Even at the lowest gain settings, it's still very high gain. I don't think I'll actually have a use for gain past 11 o'clock. Anyway, it sounds good even through a friggin' Crate.

I'm trying the VH4 into an effects return tomorrow, will record if I can.

I never heard of this VH-4 pedal and I'm a huge Diezel fan,i have the AMT Electronics D2-Diezel simulator pedal and it rocks too! Going to check one of these out asap!

Well, it won't be exact, but I'll still try. The worst that could happen is the VH4's too high gain or too modern sounding.
True, but I think that CH2/3 are just killer in the VH4.

CH2 in "Herbert" is just magic - it responds to the guitar volume cleanup fantastically. I spend 85% of my hard rock/heavy metal playing on that channel alone and with the EQ set to treb-2:00, mid-2:00, bass 12:00 it's hard to describe the vibe. As for presence and deep settings, that's totally personal. Peter just nailed it on CH2 in my 2006 Herbert.

Here's my bands current "Black Sabbath" list that we pull from and I use CH2 with no (-/+) engaged. For "Symptom of the Universe" (awesome tune) I use CH3 with "MID CUT" set to int-1:00 lev-12:00 and it kills. The audience always trips out when we pull out the classic greatness of Black Sabbath.

I use JJE34L power tubes and Ruby 12AX7AC5 HG+ in V1/2/3 and in V4/5/6 Ruby 12AX7AC5 HG.

{Black Sabbath}
1) Paranoid
2) War Pigs
3) A National Acrobat
4) Supernaut
5) Hole in the Sky
6) Iron Man
7) Master of Reality
8) Tomorrows Dream
9) Into the Void
10) Symptom of the Universe
11) Snowblind
12) Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
13) Supernaut
14) Sweet Leaf
15) Snow Blind
16) Children of the Grave
17) Neon Knights
18) Heaven and Hell
19) Crazy Train
20) Mr. Crowley
21) Flying High Again

Nail the tone every time!

HELL YA!!!

Yep, Tom said it kicks ass....but it's thru his favorite(for the time being)power section...the h&k triamp 3 and he has a sub kickin hard. So others opinions will vary thru your rig.

I will stick with my Herbert and Dmoll, but the pedal would be kickass for people who are smarter than I am,and don't have money tied up in gear they don't use because they are too obsessive to let stuff go.

So, I wasn't able to record still, but I did jam for a while today through a much better rig. Straight from the guitar, to the pedal, into the effects return of a Peavey Classic 30. It took me little while to dial it in because the Peavey had a very pronounced mid hump even with a flat EQ. I must say, unless you have a very clean, uncompressed amp, it sounds better through a effects return; much better for playing dynamics and easier to get a great sound. Also, even with the master pretty low, it was LOUD! The amount of bass was really surprising as well.

My favorite sound so far has been:

Gain @9:00, Treble @11:00, Mids @3:00, Bass @11:00, Presence @10:00, and Deep completely off. Picking lightly or rolling down volume to get less gain actually works pretty good, just a loss of treble; very impressive for something so high gain.

It's definitely more versatile than I thought it would be.

Actually it was going thru my favorite power amp known as the VHT 2/50/2. Love that thing!

Sorry bro, I was getting horrible cell service and didn't relay that properly. :aww:

I'll try to do a lower gain vid but I'm not really any good at that. Not that I'm really good at anything but metal seems to be my thing. Funny that in the vid my gain was set at 12:00! Lol, this pedal has a ton of gain. I actually preferred using the "To clean amp" output of the pedal into the power amp rather than the "To power amp" output. The "to power amp" was too harsh and brittle for my taste. When using the "to clean amp" the mids really came out and had a full rounded tone.

I'm very happy with this pedal. Can't wait to try it in a mix. It may very well be the best $300 I ever spent!

Reza is way better at vids than myself. I think he could really do it justice. :)

They had three amps (Herbert, VH4, Einstein) that I think were understood. But the Schmidt, Paul, Focker, D-Moll, Hagen seem hard to describe and I'm confused about what they are supposed to be. Apparently there's a VH2 now, what's that and where is it?
Just my understanding:

Paul is the next step from Einstein. With reverb and midi. It is awesome. Crunches nicely and sings.
Schmidt was a Class A amp with tube reverb, discontinued.
Focker (disc.) was something which will be finalized in the VH2, which is a stripped down VH4. VH2 (2 channels) comes with Langer xformers, so will give you the actual sound which started the companies trademark sound back in the 90s.
Hagen is for metal heads and low tuned stuff.
D-Moll is "Herbie light".

I do own a Paul and a DMoll now and will own a VH2 in the minute it is available here. I think I have the three concepts by Peter covered then :D

Thank you thank you thank Olaf! THIS! you just answered all of my questions. Was about to call stapfer to discuss all this.

Oh man, NOW I can buy my 4th diezel
