Do you have an amp that ended your quest for tone?

Beyween my Fortin Cali++ JMP and the Friedman KS mod in my Metro '68 SLP clone and the Langner modded 900, I'm good to go. They are all Marshall's, but they are in fact, very different

I'm sure I'll catch heat for it from someone, but my 5153 50w.
Why would you catch heat?

I remember reading a thread about members bashing it haha.
Although if it's just personal taste and we're stating our opinions, then it shouldn't matter. We're on on sevenstring.org
That's one thing I love about this forum. Haven't seen much flaming. Obviously ball busting...that's a given. But this seems to be a much more supportive forum than the others that I have been on.
Glad to be acquainted with you all.

I use Bogner XTC 20th EL34 for most but Friedman BE100 for more Marshall crunch and Diezel VH-4 for the heavy stuff. For the more fusion and thicker sound my Carol Ann OD3 combo...thing just rips for the right stuff and sounds unlike any combo I've ever owned. Mark V has its place too

Diezel D-Moll into my Diezel FL 4x12 G12K100 and V30 X-Pattern has me 100% satisfied.

Wizard Modern Classic + M75 loaded Wizard cabs.

Although I do have a case of very mild GAS for a Dirty Shirley. :D

Heh that's almost too many choices. No matter what gear I have, I pretty much always use the same amp and guitar. In fact, just the last two days, I have been forcing myself to play my Gibson LPC Axcess in silverburst with FR bridge just because I think it's ridiculous to have a $4k+ guitar and have it sit in a case. When I had my first rev Uber, it sat in the corner and got dusty, because I always had the VHT fired up. I will mess around with other guitars, amps, pedals, and love having them when needed, but I always end up with Gibson Gothic V > Dunlop 95Q wah, Ultra Lead, straight front Deliverance 4x12, Audix i5......... The only other thing I tend to actually use live is my buddy's old Echoplex. The rest of my crap gets spiderwebs on it lol!

My custom Wizard head.....and my 69 Marshall plexi.

Those are good ones! Do you still sell Fryette stuff?

To me the SLO is the perfect "Marshall" if you will. Basically THE best 80's type amp that is still capable of doing some modern stuff as well if needed.

I'd like to think it's the Gower JVM I've had for abt a month now. But I'm still in honeymoon phase, so it's really hard to tell. Need more time with the amp but so far, it's been awesome!

I like both of my amps, especially de Golub modded JMP.

But i'll be honest, in my head the SLO is the perfect amp. Never had the chance to even try one.

The SLO is a great amp, but doesn't sound much like a Marshall to me...

SLO. Can't even remember how many amps and preamps/power amps I went thru.

I find the SLO to be like the missing link amp almost ..

Beyond the Plexi/800 in terms of gain saturation but gets off the train before the Modern stop at Deizel/Recto/Uber..

I always think of it as the bridge between the new Hi Gain ,and the classic HG IMO

i think that makes sense. I'm a pretty middle of the road guy, so that works. And I can put KT66s and 5751s in for a more Plexi vibe, or boost while using some hotter 12ax7s and 6L6s for a more modern vibe. Chinese and 5881s for that middle ground. Very versatile - which is why some love it, some don't. Might not get Plexi or modern enough for some.

You're welcome. :D

A friend of mine in town is a total amp whore getting and selling a new amp about every month or few weeks. The SLO is king of the hill for me. I only have other amps for dumb fun. If my house were on fire (which is a real threat every summer) I'd grab the SLO for sure.

Tangentially, I have an EL34 based Fryette 2/50/2 incoming with a custom purple faceplate. I tried a stock one with the Soldano X99 and it was incredible!
