50-100 at a narrow bandwidth and cut instead of boost. It tightens up the bass on the boog.

I've seen that and it rocks! Why doesn't he come to RT I wonder?

Same thing with sickboy and any of those other guys we used to chat with all the time.

I spoke to Chris and he hasen't posted that much on any of the boards lately. He told me that he has been getting his ass kicked with work. IIRC he lost his job and went solo and now he has work up the wazoo!!

On the topic of Doug's tone.. i think the way he has his guitars setup has something to do with his tone. He uses 10-46 and heavier.. usually 11's when its half a step down. He uses a very high action on his guitars.. everyone i know who has picked up one of his Les Pauls, couldnt even play it.

Hey Jim,

I saw Doug responded to your post over at his forum. Im pretty sure when he said a JCM, he meant a JCM2000. Most likely a DSL.

Iv heard Doug get very similar tone to that when he played in Dio back in 05. I was front row, and it sounded like a Cameron.. not a DSL. Funniest part is it was a really tired out DSL too, the tubes were almost dead!

Electrovision. Awesome stuff, right up there with Guthrie's Erotic Cakes. In your later post, you mention the '05 tour with DIO. I saw him on that tour as well. You do know that the wall of Marshall's were just stage props.?. I'm not trying to be a smartass, if it comes across the wrong way. I had heard, and I think it is fairly well documented that he was using a cameron modded marshall of some sort.

He had the tone of gods on that tour. Definitely the best live tone I had ever heard.

When Doug was in the band, he had a rack full of heads behind the fake Marshall stacks on stage that Dio owns. He used a Cameron, another head modified by that Martin guy, and other things I think (backup amps that he swapped out at some point - Roccaforte modded Super Lead, Standel, etc...)

But I think MrDan666 is talking about Doug's tone on that second live Dio DVD where Craig Goldy was in the band, but couldn't be there for the fliming. Doug was already working with Whitesnake at that time, but he flew out to the Dio gig and played through DSLs and Fulltone pedals. I'm a big fan of the DSLs, but his tone wasn't nearly as good on that live DVD as the first live DVD.

Yeah, I remember you had all the details on the DIO stuff. God, that tour was awesome. I wasn't aware of the Goldy substitute gig.
