+1 for Black Sabbath, there is a lot of their influence in AIC, which imo is why, along with great songwriting is the reason AIC is at the top of the heap of 90's bands.

 also for no worthy VH since 1984.

Don't make me fly to Hawaii and repossess that Charvel! :D

Well I was going to mention Nirvana but thought some here might feel it a touchy subject, mentioning the band that drove the steak through the heart of hair metal and all. ;)

The guitar as a total metal instrument is back and stronger than ever. Now we have heavy riffs, leads are now getting play, and you have some retro power chord groove. Amps are freakin awesome!! Gear today is incredible. It will be interesting to see what this generation does with rock/metal music to take it to the next level. I have faith in the desire of youth to pump a fist in the air, say fuck it all, and come up with something awesome

But I will still have fun playing Dire Straits to Metallica.

It's the Indian not the arrow

I have no faith in bands of today to do anything of note with all this great stuff. The industry, what's left of it, has made sure of it.

This new generation should be making great music but they are majorly sucking so far.

All this suckage has a positive side effect because it has motivated me and my friends to start making some rockin tunes.

Good call and I concur....the grunge masters and the start of an era. And, put Seattle back on the map.

Alice in Chains
Soundgarden
Pearl Jam
Nirvana

AIC was one of the few bands that I really took a liking to during the 90's. I still can only take doses at a time though, their music is a bit on the depressing side.

Don, for me its called therapy, I don't care how fucking bad I feel, I know Layne was way more totured then I could ever allow myself to get. On a scary note, Laynes addiction wrote more of his best songs than Layne did. "Rise from the dirt I'm in, hide in another's skin, stick black dress doll with pin, your mouth takes on my grin"

the spirit of addiction at its finest.....

I am going to let you old guys in on a secret...

Most of us under 35 years of age don't care that VH is releasing a new album.
:D

I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Most of us over 35 years of age haven't cared that VH has released an album since 1984.

And then again, those of us who are 50 and over, who depended on bands like VH to keep us sane through the god awful Disco era, then to piss all over us when they kicked dave out and brought in sammy and treated him like a lil bitch, was just too much to take, then bands like Pantera, Ozzy and yes AIC came along and pulled rock out of the shitter and moved things forward again. yah, am still bitter and if you would have suffered through that skid mark in the history of music, am sure you're still bitter also.
