Steve Howe

I met this guy over the weekend playing for a band called Ashes Remain from Baltimore, MD.

Rob Tahan. He's a sick lead player with awesome tone. Kind of reminds me of Petrucci.

yup...he's also a forumite here!

Rock - Jimmy Page
Old school metal - Glenn Tipton
Thrash - Gary Holt
Death Metal - Pat O'Brien
"Alternative" - Bob Mould

Ron Thal. It's not very often a guitarist like this comes along with a sense of humor that you can hear in his phrasing.

I'm gonna say: Nuno Bettencourt

Since everyone else has said the other two that'd be in the running for me: EVH / Lynch

Brian Setzer

The man is amazing. Now that I am exploring something other than chugga-chugga wuggy-wug weeee I have truly come to appreciate his influence.

Not my number one, but a GREAT choice!

My number one, without question is Hetfield. He is the reason I picked up a guitar when I heard "No Life til Leather" and has remained a steady influence.

Have a shitload of number 2's from all types of music from country to blues to metal and rock.

I think Page,Gilmore,Jimi,Beatles have the most effect on how I play. But that is the stuff I learned early on. Adam Jones has had me re-think the role of the guitar in a few ways and saw I a KISS dvd not to long ago and figured out where my big wide slow vibrato came from. Favorite maybe Prince?
