Hey Jazzer do you have the tracking info or any proof for the block you state you returned?

"Here we only have one guy who says his block was damaged (I doubt it – but I will play along) – DID NOT send it back – DID get a refund AND is getting another block."

didn't he originally say he already sent TWO replacements? yup...

"I sent 2 replacements… I get the feeling you are looking for a third. "
"The 2 replacements were at my cost – is that direct?"
you can all continue to be judge, jury and lynch mob

my questions for the floor
1) if the block was not damaged, and Adam now doubts that to be true
what about this picture I sent at the time of the enquiry asking if this was a common problem?

web.jpg

2)If i did not send it back, why was another block allegedly sent out? and another?

3) If I did not send it back, why has it taken until now for Adam to make that claim?

4) If I did not send it back, what is this receipt for a 0.219kg package really for?

web.jpg

5) why do we keep talking about the refund I got and omit to mention it was 30% short?
such details are important.

Oh, God no... Please tell me this photo isnt the 'raised ridge that prevents resonance".... no... say it isnt so... Please....
Yes – that is the “defective” block… Jazzer is entitled to complain – we may not agree but he is entitled. The reason I am in here fighting to defend myself – at any cost (financial and time) is that I guarantee that I will satisfy EVERY customer. Nobody will walk away feeling slighted or ripped off.

The guy who posted about me coming to his studio is a friend. I met him by mistake! Another pro tech was at his studio and my site popped up – the pro tech said to him “Can you email Adam for me from here?” The studio guy was basically passing messages between me and the tech… He asked me about my blocks and for being helpful with the emails – I sent him one. We traded a few more emails and became friendly – totally cool guy! When I found out he was partially disabled, I decided to take a road trip up to his studio and do the install for him. He turned out to be so cool that I did all of his guitars! I am very glad that our paths crossed as I was lucky enough to make a new friend who is an amazing guy and an inspiration to me.

I will say 2 more things on this then we should move on…

Can’t we all just get along – WTF – we are all players – we are all players looking for something better than the usual crap on the market – we are all tone-junkies – we are all brothers here. I would bet that any two guys here could sit down and have a great conversation about gear, tone, players, whatever – we have the common interest! I have the same conversations with 15 year old beginners as I do with some of the greatest players in the world – we are all the same! “Hey dude, have you ever tried this or heard that?” “No way – that is totally sick!” – Let’s just rock it and enjoy!

I can assure you all that Jazzer will be satisfied in the end. I stand behind my work and my service. This was made public so here we are…
Cheers!

It was entertaining though. I can't wait until Adam screws up again!
Good points! Every time I try to take the high road, I get screwed...
Have I mentioned all of the new products at http://www.FloydUpgrades.com lately...
Crank it up!

I just had to bring this one back to the top   worst nightmare

TO be honest, if I ordered a block and there was ANYTHING wrong with it, I would send it back for a replacement. I have gotten numerous custom parts and pieces for my guitars and the one that upset me the most was a simple TRC that didnt fit right and I had to sand the bottom edge to make it fit....yeah a simple thing to correct, but something that came from an experienced woodworker that cost me over 100 bucks and it didnt fit right...and here I am in my garage with a block of sandpaper. If the block didnt fit flush on one side due to the metal being raised from that nick, I would have sent it back also. I would NOT have taken sand paper to it and would have expected it to not have made it out of production with that flaw.

Adam, the issue here is not so much the fact that you are "possibly" being scammed....as honestly I dont think you were, its more the tone you had in dealing with the situation. Its a fickle business dealing with Joe Public, however once you sent one replacement and the guy didnt receive it, you didnt do anything to track the third block either??? I would be EXTREMELY UPSET if a retailer accused me of trying to scam them out of some 50 dollar part, especially after I repeatedly asked them for tracking information for the parts they are saying that they already sent. As a business owner, I am REALLY surprised you didnt just send the guy another block via certified mail, signature required, or some form more reliable than just tossing it in a box for USPS to deliver. WEther you sent the guy 3 blocks before is irrelevent, since you cant prove you did it then it didnt happen....the onus is on YOU to ensure your reputation is upheld. HTe fact that is escalated to the point it did before you finally sent a part is just shocking to me (especially since you are the business owner).

As far as the way you defend your product against your competition....well its kind of sad that you would just spout out your customer list and say "To those that get it ROCK ON", and basically give a slap to the face of anyone who truly looks at everything that is available to them. DOnt you think a better approach may have been maybe something along the lines of "If you would call I would love to talk to you about the differences between myself and my competition and I can point out the subtle differences that show my product is the true innovation and the quality will speak for itself"

Granted, being on a forum, 3 people will read a post and each one will say the post had a completely different tone and message....however I hope you can see how some have been largely turned off by your dealings in this post just by the fact that it seems you have no checks and balances in place to ensure customer satisfaction, and if it does go sour that you will be somewhat difficult to deal with. (ie saying I sent you 3 different blocks already, even though I have no proof I did it, and now I think you are trying to scam me for free stuff.....") SOrry brother, but that would have me shopping elsewhere also. However I will say that a few of my closest friends have also posted here to having positive dealings with you. 1000 deals that didnt have issues are completely buried by 1 deal that didnt go right and was handled improperly. I am not trying to tell you how to run your business, but if I owned a business and you were my service manager I would have been shocked by some of the comments made by you in the thread and would have asked why you didnt just send him a replacement block via certified mail. You have tarnished your reputation over what...a 20 dollar block?? and you ended up sending out the replacement eventually anyhow??? DUnno....maybe its just me but I thought you had a negative tone during this entire escapade and I truly believe that the OP never received the 2 replacement blocks that were supposedly sent and was never intending to scam you at all.

Hopefully everyone who is ever thinking of running their own business can learn from this thread, as dealing with the public is certainly its own little nightmare....especially if you include an international community also. HTe logistics of the overseas shipping I am sure also had a lot to do with the nightmare.

anyone try those brass claws yet?
I'm holding out for titanium ;)

I was thinking the same thing. I also wonder how much of a difference the claw will make? I would think Ti springs would be needed as well. Either way, I love my Ti block
Might as well get titanium frets, locking nut, tuners, and finger board!!!!!

Oh shit, I'll be right back, heading to the patent office!!!!

Wow. Can't believe this thread went another page. But since it did, and the question was asked, let's post some actual examples of the Brass and Ti block's tones for your sonic enjoyment... :D

Here's one done with Adam's Brass Big Block...

And now here's one (albeit from a different tune, same amp emulation and Recabinet speaker/mic emulation setup - similar SuperStrats) done completely with the Titanium one...

Not a completely A/B subjective test, I know, but you get the idea... ;) To my ears the Brass Block sounds meaner, but the Ti has the more articulate tone - and "liquid" lead vibe, and just sounds more pleasing over all, IMO.

But you can't really go wrong with either...

I know I don't post here much but this whole thred.....          Hey Adam, if I ever get another Floyd guitar and need a block I'm buying it from you.

Nice work J!
As usual - you nailed it - they are different tools for different jobs. Just another color to paint with!
Neither is better - just different! BOTH are better than the stock stuff.
Jay Hale Rocks!

Thanks bro!
There are other upgrades besides the block too - check out the titanium insert blocks for your saddles, brass claw, noiseless springs, stainless hardware. Let me know if you have any questions - Happy to help!
Rock the weekend!
Cheers!

Hard to describe the differences I heard, but I think the brass block has more "gonk" on the note attack and a throatier tone to it. The titanium sounds more balanced to me. I like the brass better, but that's just me. :D

Me...
I really did not care for it in any way (that is why I do not make them...) - I am sure it has it's palce somewhere but I was not inspired... I have a few new prototypes in the works - some are really cool - some just stink... If I had a huge staff and unlimited resources I would launch them all at once - I do them one at a time and hope players like them. New stuff coming every few weeks.
Cheers~

I hear ya. The Brass one is staying in the black Charvel mutt pictured above (and a Kramer Voyager mutt) I've decided, just for the reasons you described. The titanium one will stay in the Koa Strat, and I'm putting one in a similar H/S Ash Charvel/Musikraft mutt as well. Like Adam said, different tools for different jobs...and I like both...

the second block has arrived
as this situation unfolded, being blockless and being told to take a hike, I took the
step of ordering a KGC block
their service was immediate and their block comes with a polished mating surface
it is flawless viz:

web.jpg

as this block was for a special plank, side by side it was no contest which was used
it is a product that lives up to its new home

web.jpg

in the meantime, the floydupgrades block is coming in handy, and sits next to
my computer as a handy reminder of how deals can go bad,
and how cyber-bullies can yank on mine
a fine paperweight it is too
