New guy on the block here, cool site. I have one of these pedals on order and looking forward to trying it out, Pete's demo was great to listen too!

So as we figured.. a distortion box that like many dials the gain way too high and will not in fact make your amp the same as a 3,000$ amplifier. There's a shocker! Even the Pete Thorn clips didn't impress me that much.

I dont chime in much , but i have to know what clips/video impresses you?
Yeah, really. That demo sounded amazing. What would it take to impress you, Pete doing a demo for you in your home?
Debbie Downer's never happy. He loves bagging on Friedman and pretty much everything else he's never tried.

I love statements like these because people like you most certainly lump all the critiques from multiple people into one profile and pin it on whoever doesn't share your opinion. You are a superstar, congrats!
Thanks Debbie you're an inspiration to us all

Anytime man!

To be honest, Pete's demo of this pedal knocked me on my ass. When he does that palm muted run on the lower strings very, very early in the video, I think it was one of the coolest tones I have ever heard.

However, what some are alluding to here is Pete makes everything sound absolutely fantastic. When I heard his demo of the Boss Power Stack pedal and then bought one and tried it for myself? Well, let's just say I felt like I had just gotten out of a very cold pool and I didn't notice my swimsuit had come off and I was standing in front of a girl I liked.

I think this demo is killer. Pete is a fantastic player and writes cool little demo tunes. Also, very importantly, Pete is a fantastic recording engineer and gets the absolute best out of every piece of gear he has. I feel like a complete noob compared to him in this area.

All very true. Don't forget that he's also using two high dollar, killer amps that can't put out a bad tone between them. We're all gear snobs here and I have some really nice amps too. But I just think the point of demo'ing this pedal is lost when run through top quality amps. I would like to see this pedal demo'ed through amps that are either naturally very clean (Twin Reverb) or cheapo amps that could use some good tone (Crate, Acoustic, etc.). I've never been a pedal guy and am just starting to get into them because of my two recent Marshall clone builds that don't have enough hair on them by themselves.

That about sums up completely how I felt about it too lol!!

I saw the NAMM video's of the pedal and loved them, then Pete comes out and makes it sound awesome. I just hope they don't cost too much here in Australia!!

i like the clips of the pedal and module better than the clips i've heard of the actual amp

as reference i played and like the ss, small, and dirty s in that order
jj, x, taco, BE not as much

To me, spending $200 on a cool new pedal, trying it through MY rig for a few days, then either keeping it or selling it at a small loss - is all SOP in the tone quest! No major investment here.

So if Pete's demo is indicative of the sounds I can get with this pedal - awesome! If not, sell it and move on.

When is the tube driven pedal set to drop anyway? That one has me very interested.

Set to drop on 09/02, but some GCs have them for purchase now. Got mine there on Sat.

Not really a fair comparison because he should have gone from the Fender into the Marshall 4x12 but I think this is what you guys are talking about when talking about levelling the playing field.

I don't think the guys at Friedman look at it this way. I believe their goal is to show that this pedal is capable of world class tones in the right hands. I think this is a no compromise pedal made to sound this good through no compromise pedal platforms. If a $300 Peavey Classic doesn't sound as good as a $3000 Suhr, I'm not sure it's fair to expect a $200 pedal to elevate the Peavey to Suhr level.

However, I believe that Pete would have made this pedal sound just as good in his home studio through a $300 Peavey Classic. That's what he does. And those of us watching start wrestling with our wallets to see if we can keep them closed.

Hope that clears it up without shitting too much on the party... guarantee we will see just as many of these pop up for sale within a month just like we see amps popping up for sale 2 days after a stellar review from some of our fellow forumites.

That's only because many of us gear whores love to try pretty much everything and some things resonate with us more than others. Gear flipping doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the awesomeness of the gear. I've flipped many a holy grail amp just out of sheer boredom (like so many others here). Having said that, my Smallbox and Quickrod aren't going anywhere any time soon. I should have a BE-OD in my hot little hands any day now and we'll see how much I like it.

WOW.....Got the Friedman pedal today and all i can say is that it's totally killer....I get my 79 JMP to sound just like my Cantrell....Amazing pedal
