Has modern metal come to this?

I think I’m even more disgusted with the rehashed Superior Drummer backing track/samples that’s been used on seemingly every fkn modern metal product demo.

And every youtube demo by fluff, agufish, etc etc etc

I'm so fucking sick of hearing that same drum set on every god damn recording

And they're so proud of it "LOOK GUYS I'M A PRO-FESHUNALL MIXER ENJUNEER I HAVE DA SOUND"

They don't understand that because it sounds like that, it's an immediate guarantee that you not only have no talent, but no creativity either

Are those Tik Tok embeds? Sure makes me glad I don’t have Tik Tok or whatever app that is because they don’t play for me and you know I touched ‘em (can’t be trusted).

How about a palate-cleanser? Definitely not a bad song trying to bring back 80's hair tropes, nope.

10 to 1 the next time he plays that shite using that pedal, it will sound different because those glitch pedals will sound different each time you use them.

All of this fakery BS seems to have peaked with djent, in my opinion. That's when a lot of bands started using backing and sequenced tracks so that you can't hear them make mistakes on stage.

Kind of reminds me of K-Pop acts, where they're all miming on stage and showing off their underpants. And I'd rather watch that than guitarists miming.

In all these good newer bands I like the guitar work, but can’t love the “sweet” vocals. Somehow those older bands managed to nail same “sweet” vocals, newer bands’ I just can’t make myself love.

Cool riffs though. Credit where it’s due 🤘🏻

Yeah I love the rhythm work in that track. But I wouldn't call Tesseract new, as they've been around for about 23 years.

I saw a couple "Thall" bands recently and really enjoyed the live experience. Was closer to a dubstep club night in many ways.

I had to look up what Thall was…holy Jebus I thought metal had bottomed out at Djent…

It's down to drop G Octave these days. Often on highly custom made 6 string baritones. I like folks experimenting with new gear and sounds as I did back in the day. Pushing genres into new territory. I'm just not mega into the sound personally.
