Van Halen with Spammy at the Staples Center '04

The sight of my one time hero, EVH drunken, drugged and broken down, rolling around on his back while horrendous feedback spewed from his horrible sounding amps during his "solo" will haunt me forever. He fucked up in EVERY song, hands falling off the guitar, stumbling around like a complete idiot. All during this hideous display, his moronic minions in the crowd are all around me drunkenly chanting his name in unison, like this is the greatest performance in the history of music. Disgusting...

I vowed that night need I'd never go see him play again and I've stuck to my guns, regardless of his seemingly better state since then...

Go to see REM during the Fables tour right before they got stadium huge and some band 3:00 oclock??, may be screwing the name up, was playing and they were just bad, I mean BAD!!!!! This dude in front of me with 12" elmor glue hair spikes is going nuts cursing these dudes out and we are diving for cover from the hair of death.

Frehley's Comet.................oh man we were yelling bring more smoke Ace so we could never learn what the hell he was trying to play.

Worst sounding was Metallica on the AJFA tour. The show was good but it was one big wall of mush. So bad it was hard to tell what they were playing.

Genesis at the forum mid 80s. It had nothing to do with the music. It was their sound system that sucked. All you heard was a distorted bass. You could not hear anybody else.

Madonna ~ Who's that Girl ~ tour at the King Dome. I was working lights and some other stuff at that show. The show was fine. The sound was often bad at the King Dome .... but this show was very bad.

One cool thing about the show was back stage I passed her a bike to ride for one of the songs. She changed her cloths about three feet from me .... full nudity. She looked pretty good back then. I guess that made up for the sound ?

Queensryche - played about 2 minutes of the first song and stopped cause the singers throat was sore.

Avenged Sevenfold - This one really qualifies as a good thing though . Saw about 3 minutes of the first song and one of the guitar players through his guitar down on the stage and stormed off. The rest shortly followed. Apparently they weren't happy with the sound guys. They were part of an all day festival so they just moved on with the next band.

Not that they were bad, but the sound sucked... It was soooo loud I couldn't make sense of anything. Probably didn't help that we were in front of the stage with 4 daisy-chained NMV Marshalls blaring at us.. LOL!

some interesting responses. Cradle of Filth was one of the best shows i ever saw when they were headlining second stage at ozzfest. i never understood people hating on slayer live either, they have smoked everyone everytime i have seen them. they made metallica and slipknot sound like jokes when i saw them all at giant stadium

I have seen Slayer 7-8 times and every time they kicked ass except last summer... The guitars sounded like a kazoo, just like the new album.

Went to see Tool here in Greenville, I guess a year or two ago and I can't for the life of me remember the opening acts name but.... I remember they were Asian and the whole set was nothing but high pitched screams, and feedback from the guitarist..... I seriously think about a 1/4 of the crowd left and didn't come back for Tool, they were that bad.... Oh and I've never smoked grass before but that night the guy beside me had about 3 joints so I guess that counts at least 1/2 a joint for me right? haha But Tool was amazing, they had a part in the show that if you'd have been on acid I think you may have went crazy and thought Aliens were coming to attack...

Saw White Zombie open for Ozzy a couple of years ago. Awful.

I take this back. The WORST show I've ever seen was back in '06 at a NIN concert. I went with a friend of mine, and NIN - while I'm not a huge fan - was amazing. But they had an opening act called Peaches. Good god, Peaches was the most awful thing I've ever laid my eyes or ears on. They would've been better had the sound system been worse, but alas, you could hear every second of the bitch on stage PMSing, and this they considered music. One of their songs contained repetition of the phrase "Fuck the pain away". Probably one my most vivid images from that night was after they were done, some drunk fat guy eating a burrito and yelling "FUCK THE PAIN AWAY!!"
