Hey friends, so I have been holding these files for awhile and now its time to let them go. This is an amp shootout I did on my hunt for a great recording amp.

Details;
ESP custom (emg81) > Ibanez HWts9 > Amp > Mesa 2x12 (v30) > (2) 57's blended > Aurora GTQ2 (no eq) > Pro Tools HD (slight eq on tracks)

I took a killswitch riff and just went for that.

Here's the amps in no order:
Soldano SLO
Krank Rev1+
Splawn Nitro el34's
Splawn QuickRod
Marshall JCM800 Friedman
Marshall Superlead Friedman
Mesa Dual Rect Rackmout
5150
AxeFx/Vht 2/90/2

This is not scientific and was just for fun.

SO WHATS YOUR FAV!!!!!!!!

2,3,4 and 7 I really like 1,6 8 and 9 seem like they are missing something

my favorite is number 2

but truthfully i feel that i could have gotton all those variations in the sound with mic placement and setting changes.

they could have been all of the same amp for all i know!

thanks for posting though

KSE!

2 and 7 were my favorites...3, 4, and 5 sounded very close to each other. 1 was the worst IMO.

I will tell you this. This is no prank and all the amps were used.

I liked 4 the best.....and then 7 then 5....did NOT like 8 or 9 at all, all the others were ok too.

+1

Yep. 7 sounded the most balanced out of my ear goggles, there were some nice overtones in 4 but it was a bit too mid-rich, otherwise it sounded pretty gnarly. 8 & 9 seemed too fizzy and compressed IMHO.

So ya, there it is - it'll be interesting to see what they all are

Damn, we have similar tastes, I thought the same of 8 and 9.....but, we flip flopped 7 and 4 as the best :)

Dare I say that listening to 5 or so clips I almost heard no difference on my mac book speakers :aww:

Good...in before the amps are unmasked. Definitely number 2  honorable mention to number 5 though.

Each one sounded different to me. But I can't say I liked any of them. :dunno:

5 and 7 were the stand outs though.
