I think this will be the last concert I attend....

You should be able to view your tickets on the Ticketmaster app without having to download another app for the venue.

Also, at least until recently you had the option of printing your own tickets, or having them mailed to you. I'm not sure if that has changed, but if it has, that is fucking lame.
I had to accept them from the person who gifted me them digitally using my email and ticketmaster so I don't know if you can still get hard copy tickets or not.

A friend asked me if there was any artists I wanted to see. It's been over 25 years since I went to an actual ticketed event. He hooked me up with some free concert tickets via ticketmaster. The show is tonight. I had to create a ticketmaster account, then had to download a ticketmaster app onto my phone, then I had to download the venue app onto my phone to view the tickets. That's after setting up email and bs on my phone cause I don't use "apps" or any of that stuff except talk and text. Took about an hour to set it all up and actually view the tickets. Then I gotta make sure my phone is all charged up before I go because "your phone is your ticket". It's a long drive to the venue, then parking in the area can run $50 or more, up to nearly $70. Once inside, all merch and concessions is cashless so my $ can't even buy me a damn t-shirt.

What a freakin' clown world man. Had I known all the bs involved I wouldn't even have accepted the tickets tbh. I can't believe people go along with this shit routinely. I guess I'm gonna go since dude went thru the hassle of getting the tickets and me and the old lady almost never do anything together since most of our ducats go into music, music gear, and house projects...
Ditto, I have close family that just went to see Billy Idol.

The only way I would go is if Jesus was playing.

Until that happens, I would need to get paid to go.

I too recently bought the first tickets in a long time to see an old friend of mine's show. I had a similar experience. You need to give up your email, personal info, phone number, etc. Then they send you spam emails and/or sell your data to other spammers. I went through it only to bolster my friend's ticket sales. Life was easier and more private before all of this nonsense.

Hope you and the Mrs have a good time.

That's all some pandemic bullshit that has stuck around for some reason. I hate it. If places don't take cash, they don't get my money. Even some of the bigger venues, I'll still pay at the box office before all that shit.

It has zero to do with the pandemic.

The core of this is scalping and controlling the secondary market. Ticket Master had to battle to control the secondary market i.e. Stub Hub, Seat Geek etc... to the point they created their own secondary market i.e. scalping.

It's about controlling the data and data is dollars and then obviously controlling the ticket forwarding. That's why everything went electronic via the apps etc... Not to mention most big venues have a deal with Ticket Master neither want to deal with hard tickets anymore.

The rest of the industry followed. That's why all this shit started.

I prefer cash in all deals.

Venmo. Transferred directly to my bank account, so no trip to the bank for a deposit (who got time for that?). Also, I don't like to carry anything in my pockets except for my phone... I haven't carried a wallet, car keys or cash in 15+ years.

I prefer physical gold and silver, but much like Akon said "It's loccckeeddd uppp". I carry a good amount of cash, but nothing I don't worry about losing. If someone decided to rob me, I would just give them my entire wallet. A task force would be at their location within 24 hours lmaoooo

I will say the first time I went to a Braves game after they went digital was a major pain in the ass trying to figure it out. And having to do anything on my kids Xbox or PC is rage inducing.
