i used to think Chaos AD and Pantera were fine, not a big deal but not my thing
Then this shit and Korn and Limp Bizkit came along and I hated the thrash bands that slowed down and became groove metal for doing this to metal as a whole

I once could listen to some pantera and some of those bands but i also didnt like korn, bizket nor the slow stuff you mentioned. I loved 80’s hair metal and for heavier stuff i loved Testament. But these days?? I occasionally listen to some 80’s but im mostly enjoying blues and clean melodic stuff these days. Guess im old lol

When that first Slipknot album hit, i was hooked, fucking aggressive and so intense.
I'm an old 80s thrash metal addict but i follow the trend and really enjoy it. Metal is so diverse now, we are truly blessed.
Back in the day, we had not many choices for metal.

Not my cup of tea,but I own a 2020 Jim Root Sig Jazzmaster, because I found it in a pawnshop for a very cheap price.
I’m an old guy who grew up on 70’s rock , but played late 70’s to esrly 80’s metat.
Now days I’ll only listen to 70’s rock and rarely listen to the metal stuff I used to play.

I liked them but wasn't a huge fan until I saw them live with Lamb of God and Shadows Fall back in 2004. Then I was converted. The original lineup espeically with Jordy was great.

Yeah that was me. I was seeing these bands l8ke Coal Chamber, Staind, Korn, etc. and was glad there was some heavy music but didn't feel like "me" with the baggy pants, piercings, and holding your guitar vertical instead of horizontal.
Then one day I ride with my bass player to check out a gig location in this monster truck he had that was way up off the ground. He puts on the "Slipknot" CD and I was like "what the hell is this?". Filled a good void because it was heavy and had that familiar chugging.
Slipknot is nothing like that now. I used to buy their CD when it came out. I couldn't tell you when new music came out and I barely know who is in the band after so many firings.
