No thought of a Kemper? Lots of great clips from a variety of people.

Kemper...that way you can profile your real amps and take them all in one package...

Kemper sounds so authentic
I also like the idea of a vertical 2x12

I really prefer always having a 50 watt head and a 4x12. I don't like relying on venues for anything sound related. I can always turn it down, but sometimes you have to turn it up.

Playing the covers for years. Casinos/clubs/events. From the 40s to today. Every genre of music - every tone under the sun. I am currently running a PedalPro into the front of my Hiwatt/SLO into a LIVE for direct - with the simple thru option on the LIVE if I want to add cabs. I highly recommend this set up. The drive/boost/fx in the PedalPro are stellar. And it is all analog so it is amazing tone wise, and integrates into pretty much any type rig you want to run. Plus you can use whichever tube amp you choose.

If you go direct with the LIVE then you can also switch cab IRs to better suite different genres. With this and the distortion/boost/eq in the PedalPro I can't imagine what tone you couldn't get. :)
So, you've been playing since the 40s? Am I missing something here? If you were 16 years old at the time and played your first gig in 1949, you'd be 80 years old today... You must mean something else?

He obviously is talking about music from the 40's onward...

For what the op is talking about, the Axe-II is a no brainer

Micheal Britt from "Lonestar" just got a Kemper..he owned the Fractal before. He said the Kemper feels more like a real amp. He may play country, but he loves a good plexi. Now from another view, I seen Andy Wood play his Fractal/ Matrix combo in his Diezel 4x12. He covered everything from Alabama to GNR in his band "Drunk with Guns"...it sound fantastic. Myself, I use a Friedman BE-100 with a 4x12 and DI. I've used 1x12's and 2x12's...Out door gig's.. 4x12 is a must, and any place with a 500+ capacity. Being able to always hear yourself is important to me. If you can't...it kills your feel and dynamics (Bonamassa would shoot himself...lol). You can't depend on the sound guy or house PA like ConcreteVampire said. Effects..a good wah and a boost are a must to me. I experiment with everything else. I got a Tube Screamer, Sweet Sound Mojo Vibe, and a Strymon Flint on my board current. I'm gonna add a Suhr ISO Boost, Timeline, and a Mobious?.. I'm also gonna get a Kemper for my 2 Suhr 1x12's with Scumbacks for a B rig and home. I really like the Friedman Pink Taco thats 20 watts. It would be a great gigging amp...it's on my list for a backup to BE-100 and a small gig amp.

I'm using an Ecstasy with a Koko up front and Nova System in the loop. It can pretty much do anything...

I would just get a cheap modeler floorboard and run it direct for a cover band.

You'll have less stuff to cart around and when you're sick of the cover band and want out (matter of when not if just imo   ) you won't have much invested into it when you walk away.

Orange TH 30 head/4x12 or 2x12 depending on venue/Plexitone 3button/TS9/clean boost in the front/clean boost in the loop/Delay/Chourus and the important tool in the arsenal...................The volume knobs...........I get compliments about my variety of tones almost every gig........My. 02

Good stuff guys, keep 'em coming.

I still have the D60/D412 as well as the Paisley Super Shiva rig. The Deliverance setup is a beast so at the very least I would need to sell the D412 and get a D212 and probably need an attenuator. Problem with that is I'd lose on the deal because D212s don't come up used very often so I would spend more on the 212 than I'd get for the 412.

Lots of thinking to do in order to decide what gear to juggle.

Really, there's not that much difference in packing a 2X12 or 4X12.

Depends on your 2x12. An oversized Bogner there's not much but where there is a difference is in driving the speakers at lower volumes for the purpose of micing. Like I said though, lots to think through.

Right now I use either one or two modest
rigs: Bogner Shiva and a 2x12 and pedal board
with a BB Dl6 trem Wah Comp and Chorus for big gigs
A Mesa Mark 111 1x12 for the funky-jazz -fusion stuff ,
And a Pod HD300 with (with a Mackie as my personal monitor)
for when I know there a decent pa and Sound guy. The 300 has taken a lot of time
to get it where I like it but for what it is it sounds decent.
I used to use a hellacious rig/rack in the past but I found that
hauling a bunch of freight after work to play in a bar was not my idea of a good time
My buddy just uses two deluxe's and a Meager board and sounds pretty good.
I would say use the bare minimum to get the job done and that makes you comfortable
and call it a day.
Hopes this helps

This is definitely where I'm leaning, of course I'm a tone snob too so it's not going to be a Crate combo. Nonetheless, I want to make things as easy as possible and am thinking a two channel amp with a pedalboard is where I should go. I'm going to spend more time with my Shiva setup. Maybe I've got exactly what I need already and just need a pedalboard.

Yep, didn't think the sentence was that ambiguous.

I really think you should give the PedalPro a try if that is the road you are thinking. It was much less than the pedal boards I have put together, and much easier. It is basically a pedal board with digital control. 30 day return policy...

I know I'm always harping on it, but I did the same with the Two-Notes stuff years ago and it is well received finally. It can go in front, loop, or even stand alone with a power amp. 2 cords - done. You shouldn't just dismiss it. :)
