Jose Arrendondo(original) modded Marshalls let see them

Rockstah you should be happy that you are sittin in the big lights along with Jose and whoever came up with the one wire mod for Marshall back in the day!

I also agree that someone in the know might be able to tailor the values of an amp to the response of an amp or the transformers in an amp but for the most part, having a tech mod an amp to another tech's specs would probably get someone close enough to the sound they are looking for so what the hell. Everytime we mod an amp we are essentially using parts or all of another tech's mod so I'm cool with it! The Jose MV + cascaded preamp seems to be the cat's meow for a lot of people these days. No harm in that.

i'm not worried about the people that don't want the real deal. carry on!

i do have to say though i would never claim to do anyones spec though. ....going behind closed doors telling people "i can do your amp in the bray spec because i have had his amp on my bench and ill charge you less than what he charges".... that will bite you on the ass later. i truly feel bad for the people doing this kind of thing.

oh and i am happy as i have worked my ass off. The thing not to be happy with is that someone is using my name. i guess i should put out an amp/spec and call it The Suhr model, or the Metro Mark II or the Bray Today amp... Kapo you should be real proud i must say....no harm in that...

I have an Marshall modded by Jose; but I don't know how to post pics.

25 posts, lots of lip service, but no pic's, what gives? :gethim:

why someone would go to a tech to have them put another techs mod in an amp is beyond me

I hear it's difficult to get Jose to do his mods these days ;)

i was going to comment on that and i do understand that obviously. but of course you knew i was referring to the use of my name/spec.

A few reasons.

1) Some of the people who have the old Jose modded Marshalls are not members of this Forum.

2) Original Jose modded Marshalls are hard to come by these day's for multiple reasons ranging from the obvious ,to the fact that the guys who have good sounding ones very rarely let them go. Then you also have to take into consideration that there are collectors who snatch them up as soon as they are available. This limits the amount of people who can actually get there hands on one.

Add these reason in and you will see why there's not a lot of pics.

I hope you aren't implying that I should be proud of myself for sharing what appears to be your spec with the people on this board? I told where he can go to find the Jose and various other mods. They may not be exact and they may need tweaking, but the starting points are there and available for anyone who wants to try them out. No harm in that. For people who want the exact "mod" , then by all means, go to Rockstah or Bray or whoever. If you just want something close and the information is there, why not use it? I know for me shipping an amp to the states from Canada would mean high shipping costs and probably customs on the way back. Paying 500$ for someone to add a few resistors ain't my cup of tea. Apparently a few people here feel the same way.. I'm giving them the means to decide for themselves whether or not they want the exact mod, or if they can live with something close. I did however step on a framing nail last night though so perhaps your karma is already working against me! :aww: Off to the doc for a tetanus shot :)

wonder why this topic always turns to shit. Jose is dead so you cant get an exact Jose mod. There are some schems floating around that have been confirmed as real. Ive used them they sound great. I see nothing wrong if someone wants it done to hire someone who can solder to put the mod in. They were all slightly different because we all know marshalls are all slightly diff so we have to compensate. what exactly is the argument over anyways. ??

Didn't EVH finally admit that his amps weren't modded by Jose anyways?

Yup!!!

And also i will bet that a lot of Jose Modded Marshalls have most likely been put back to stock at some point, when the whole modded Marshall scene started dying out during the Grunge period.
