I totally understand this, I know in the first few minutes if the amp is for me or not. Dragging things out by "waiting" a little longer is just...wasting time
You must hate Mesa Mark Series

Roger mission control... We have lift off...

I repeat... We have lift off...

Mission control...The eagle is now flying

Trajectory has now been fully optimized and the flight path is stable...

To me they are different amps in many ways and the same in some ways.

For where I am at now thee days I prefer the Friedman.

If I were still playing in a band this would be my main amp with out question as it loves volume.

It moves a lot of air and chugs and thumps HARD with EMG's and my VHT cab.

Sean Martin would be thrilled if he played this amp...

Yeah... I don't think you gave it enough time... There is a lot going on with this amp...

What cabs/speakers did you try it through?

Maybe so as Mosh was saying as recently as 6 weeks ago he did not like the Friedman stuff and it was overpriced and overhyped

Your statement is rather "General" in nature there...

Hype is hype, it happens all the time with products and to each and everyone of us I'm sure gets caught up in it at one time or another...

What I actually said I was not that crazy about the Friedman 1979 JMP Marshall I bought used of the forum about 3 or so years ago. I was in a different place tone wise and using active pickups as may main choice and I had different tones in my head I was looking for. The amp did not sound bad or anything, it sounded good but for the money I had into it ($2350) I just deiced to move it instead. I sold the amp after a couple of weeks to some guy that literally had it listed for sale in two days after getting it from me for what ever reason.

I did also say that I was not taken in either by the older used BE100 I had tried many times at my local music store. I played it a bunch of times trying to dig it, but I couldn't for what ever reason. That used amp gave left me honestly feeling that I was not a Friedman guy.

It also did NOT sound like the brand new BE 100 later came in to the store and that is why I now own one.

As for the new version of the Friedman BE100, I have never played one until about 3 weeks ago when I decided to take the cash out of my pocket and buy it. I was given the opportunity to bring it home for a weekend and give it a shot before I bought it.

I was hesitant to even do that as I am very picky, picker than most when it comes to "the tone in my head" and didn't want to waste my time on something I might just bring back as well as taking a product from the store that my friend could be selling to another customer.

Anyway, I am glad I did take him up on the offer.

Bringing the amp home to try in my environment made a huge difference in making a decision about it. Using my pedals and guitars where they key to me getting "into the amp" and discover all that it can do.

IMO, the Friedman BE100 is the best amp I have owned period for my personal tastes and playing style. I even posted a thread that I was surprised I was digging it so much...

Also until very recently, I really had no thought or comments about Friedman cabs ever except by chance when I was trying a Bogner shiva 20th out and was close to buying it. I tried the Shiva 20th on a few different cabs but sounded best on the Friedman cab the store had. I later tried a few more amps out on that cab and instantly bought the cab end of story. it is the best celestion loaded cab I have ever own or played for the "tone on my head". I'm not making this crap up, seriously it all just happened that way and it's the honest truth.

As for the amps being over priced I have heard a lot of people saying this right here ion this very forum long before I even thought of buying one for myself... Yes they are not cheap and neither were most of my guitars and other gear I own but that's how it goes. I am extremely guilty of complaining about gear being over priced at times and I definitely have a mental block about high priced and boutique stuff as a fair amount of it turns into a passing trend.

I bought a new Bogner Helios wanting to try it out myself. I really didn't like the amp from any of the clips I heard and video I saw and really had no intention of ever buying it. Erocks clips changed my thoughts on it and I gave it a shot. The amp is really cool, but hey I am loving my BE100 way too much to even care bout anything else...

Well shit now I need to try the newest BE as mine is the early 2012 version. I really like the BE and it is right behind my CA Triptik as the best sounding amp I've owned and like most of us around here I have owned gobs of them:lol:

I loved your BE clip can we get a helios clip? I'm guessing it is more vintage and I think I would like that.

Please don't let my personal experience with that used amp speak for previous versions of this amp as I have only played two BE100's in my life... (The used older BE100 and the new killer one that I just bought).

After playing the new BE100 that I ended up buying, I have thought that maybe something was not possibly right with that amp or what ever? Could have been something simple like the type of tubes someone threw in it that made me not dig it... We all have this sound in our heads we are looking for as we dial in and tweek an amp and I could not find it on that amp for what ever reason...

The new BE100 I got it took me like 5 min to be in tone heaven !!!

I have decided to sell the Helios, I don't want to do any clips with it... It is on the open market for sale now. If I was in a band still I would easily keep it, it loves volume!

Seriously... what's so good about the BE100?
For the money it should be something special
From what I can hear, it's good, not great
So I'm asking people that have played one... what's the fuss?

Guys love a modded Marshall. There's not much out there really since Mark Cameron is MIA. I would love a killer single channel PTP Jose. The hype is a lot of guys never played a good Cameron. Dave F is successful because he is who he is and he has guys behind the scene making it work from a business stand point. He is overseeing building and shipping amps and people are making money. The BE sounds like a really good modded Marshall. It's not rocket science.

May as well just post these threads straight in the Classifieds! ;-p

Other than they sound awesome and have a great feel playing through them, what kind of answer do you expect?

Unless......a rhetorical troll question....no couldn't be lol!

First off if you are not that into a Marshall sound then yes BE clips probably sound JUSTgood and not great, BUT if the Marshall sound is your thing than perhaps the many many BE clips out their are gonna sound awesome. I own one and while it is not my favorite amp I cannot deny that to me a lot of the clips even youtube clips with camera mics sound incredible. So may I guess that while you have probably owned Marshalls or Marshall influenced amps they were not your cup of tea in the end? For a lot of us that like this sound despite the BE not saying Marshall on the Front they sound killer!

Which part of it sounds awesome and makes you feel really really good when you play thru it don't you understand????

So I guess when someone asks you why you love your wife so much, you answer
"Because it feels good when I fuck her" ?

Congrats Giles, sorry it didn't do it for you. I really love mine. The BE100 must be one amazing amp. I have serious gas to try the JJ.

interesting counterpoint, but I think the correct version is because it feels good when I fuck her and my girlfriend at the same time with my mistress licking my asshole.

Wow.. We did we all like jump the shark here?

If I was still in my old school hardcore band I would keep this in second...

It thumped hard on my VHT cab with EMGs and a tube screamer... peeled the fricking paint of the walls.
