NAD !!! KT120 is sickkk!!!

This amp totally kills and put a death row on my other amps !! KT120 !!! Amazing !! No more KT88 cardboardy mids.... now if ya ask i would like to put an amp mod on my UL to accept two KT120

Congrats! For what it’s worth I actually compared KT88’s and KT120’s in the same amp of mine (Schroeder Dozer) and found the 120’s actually had more “cardboardy” mids, but I think it’s probably the way Rick designs his amps around them where they don’t have that problem since the KT88 loaded Hell Razor KT150 I tried didn’t have cardboardy mids either. Actually better mids/less hollow than the MTL EL34 mids I had

Mmmm thats abit strange... but probably the wizard kt88 loaded didnt sound much cardboardier than other branded amps.... i did a side by side comparison the MTL KT200 vs Hybrid KT150... results are stunning !! KT200 with these KT120 tubes sound more even and less clinical than KT88....

it didnt have the KT88 mids at all and KT120 has a bit brighter more scooped up than more mids of the KT88... imo i prefer the new KT120 its a handsdown this unit is luciferion !!! lol

but i gotten this off from reverb awhile ago... does anyone here owned this before? or seller is here too? lol

Now I need to look to see if these will fit in my 2150.

@Exo-metal i did some read up and many are stating that this KT120 has bigger heaters thus it consumed more current on heaters.... in about 0.3mA more than KT88 .... i probably think i could switch the UL just put in just two of these KT120 to see how well it works.... i suppose it can handle with two KT120 and it also matches the output transformer being a 120watt design accepting these KT120 at 60watts each ...... the UL should work

In my Schroeder Dozer at least the KT150’s came off a little more clinical and distant sounding than the KT88’s, but a little bigger and more efficient/more headroom, but some vintage KT88’s like the Tesla KT88S’s and GEC TT21 KT88’s sounded even bigger than the Tung-Sol KT120’s IME. I’m guessing the difference might be that those specific model wizards are voiced specifically for their respective tubes and transformers for them

i agree on that too !!... its probably premature of me to say having forgotten the hybrid/mtl has a MC2 voiced power section .... probably will put in the KT88s next weekend to see how it weights out... but this Wizard is by far sickest amp !!!
