The Van Halen and Guns riffs sound great. Ya know what I keep hearing somewhere in these clips, and others I have watched on youtube: Ride The Lightening tones. Probably one of my favorite Marshall tones of all time and some of the higher gain clips of this head seems to have the mids and gain structure to pull it off.
Great vid man...Very helpful, good info for sure. This thing reminds me of my Diezel VH4, but with a more "traditional" voice, and perhaps more gain...and a not as dry. I would like to hear a bit more about what the "mid-shift" actually does, how useful it is and perhaps some high-gain comparison clips. Thanks again man...Sounds like you are really into the vibe of this amp.
I'll join the lowly ranks of the aforementioned and state that "generally speaking" I'm not a mega fan of the Marshall tone, but in the case of your clips, man, this amp sounds really nice!! Like really nice!! Also helps that you've got some fun chops that are enjoyable to listen to. Thanks for posting these. Marshall oughta cut you in on some royalties as I think there are several RT members here rubbing their credit cards because of this thread.
I'm bored at work...gave your first clip a listen lol...i don't know if it's your recording device or the settings or my phone or what...but i kinda like the crunch channel on my regular ole jvm410h a little better.
Ha - yeah - i remember how a 4 V30 cab sounds lol. I've got weber legacies mixed with V30's in my vintage cab and G12T75's mixed with V30's in my mode 4 straight cab now. We are in agreement - JVM's fuckin rock lol...i might put a choke on mine sometime
