I just wanted to report that the Snott Watt is by far the best desk recording amp out there!

I did a whole reamp take of Rose of Sharyn with the Snott Watt on my desk. Only using the line out and Greg's impulses. That's it. Since it doesn't need a speaker load I don't have to worry about blowing transformers or tubes.

Here it is. Left is with Dry swich on and Right is with Wet. Not much of a difference but yeah. The cleans are the vintage channel.

Yeah this one to my ears is more responsive than say my K88. For being so small it's got just the right amount of bass to make it seem like it's a much bigger amp. The options on this thing are pretty wild too. I mean who doesn't love switches

I have the K2 and a custom XTC he made me. Baron amps are definitely in my top 3 favorites out of anything I've ever played.

BTW it has an internal dummy load when the speaker is not connected.

Glad to hear someone is liking my impulses. Add a bit more gain and drop the midrange a tiny bit. I would LP that sucker at 9khz on your DAW and repost the clip. You're going to like it a lot more.

Yeah dude, your impulses are by far my favorite. I never could get a good sound out of Ricks. LP at 9k and you were right. Sounds much better. I didn't HP or LP in the clip obviously but whenever I do I usually LPed at 12k as a rule of thumb but wow now I see why my clips sounded so fizzy. Thanks for the tips Greg.

Yeah it's not on the site but I got mine for $650. If you were to get one it could be more or less but it is a great price for a little devil.

How long to get it after you ordered it?

I think it was around 4-5 weeks but that was because I wanted the glass panel. So it could be less without it.



Once I finish getting BFD2 setup I'm going to be doing a lot of clips with this thing. So expect there to be a Snott Watt section in Netmusicans within the next week. My next investment will probably be a DI box and I think the snott watt would be a great little unit for doing that as well.

Haha thanks man. I feel it was just yesterday though when you said the 5150 was one you were going to stick by for a long time.

I always wanted to try a VH4/Herbert but no where near me stocks them Barons are very nice though and I can't see me replacing my K88 with any other amp. It's just too damn versatile

Good luck getting back to the VH4 though!
