While Zakk is a monster player in his own right, but seems these days to stay locked in those same pentatonic patterns that he has used forever . I myself have always found Joe to be very unique in his note choices and patterns and you can certainly hear some of the Randy Rhoads influence in his playing , but with his own style as well.

Joe is certainly a great guitar player and has his own very personal style. But let's not compare him to Zakk. Both have played with Ozzy but that's about the only thing they have in common. They do not fight in the same category. At all.

Just one of many cool clips of Joe tearing it up!

He's a monster player, I need to have both albums. I can hear some Randy and some Zakk in his style. Unfortunate for him that he was with Ozz during a time when no classic new songs were being created, so it was basically a greatest hits juke box gig.

I also think he didn't create a strong brand. Hate to use that word as I despise that mentality (especially today with NO TALENT people who brand well and become mega-rich for that alone). but he didn't bring a distinct visual or sonic personality. Even playing an ordinary looking Strat was a symptom of it. All of Ozzy's players to that point has distinct personalities and song writing contributions, not to mention legendary stage guitars. :dunno: Without the songs of his first 3 guitarists (plus Daisley and Kerslake), Ozzy would have never been what he was. The hired guns he had during his later years didn't bring songs of that level to the table, if he even allowed them to contribute at all (not that Sharon would have let them have songwriting credits.......).
