Anyone near Vegas have a Monomyth?
The wheels are turning
Yup. Cool video to follow.
Honestly I’ve not heard a vid that grabbed me but people seem to love them. No way I’m buying without hands-on but...
If none of Shea’s videos didn’t grab you, it’s probably not for you then. When I first heard his vids I was instantly sold.
Yeah hard for me to see how one wouldn’t be impressed with Shea’s clips. That’s what got me intrigued. Right away I heard in those clips a growl that made me think this could finally be something as good or better than the Cameron mods. Turned out to be pretty accurate
I know clips can't accurately portray an amp, but all the monomyth clips have the same over gained/compressed thing that just didn't appeal to me. probably the recording and youtube compression adding to it. I really didn't pay any attention to his mods until people started bringing them home and giving first hand accounts after spending some time on them. People seem to love them and they get high praise for sure.
They have a lot of gain on tap for sure, but I tend to run mine less than half way. The first Monomyth I got I admit is too compressed for my liking and will have my tech bring it back to stock jmp, but the last one I just got is a lot more open and just killer
I honestly have trouble telling an amp’s level of compression from just clips unless it’s compared to something else, but what I could tell from them was that very complete, angry growl on power chords, very tight chunky palm mutes and the rich, organic sound of the old Marshall donor amps
It still may not be to your taste though. It’s a different beast than the Wizard’s, which still have that particular clarity and punch and more efficient way of putting out sound
