Joined the Heritage family today. My favorite local had this 2022 used and I’d wanted a Cherry 335 for quite a while. The Gibsons that had the neck shape I wanted were $3700 new. This had the same shape for a number that was significantly less. Was actually checking out an amp I was looking to get and left with the guitar, not the amp. 😂
Not 100% sure about the 59’s. They sound good but I think I might want something a little more open in the lower mids and more aggressive on the EQ curve, not output. Volume rolloff is great and the tone roll off is also good. Nice and gradual.

What's up with this forum going tan pants?

Until two weeks ago I think I was the only 335 enjoyer here....

That is a beautiful axe Skoora, congrats man. What was the neck shape you were after? Rounded C?

Nice score! Those really are hard to beat. I guess you decided you could live with the smaller frets?

I feel the same about the 59’s in mine.

I actually like them for 80’s metal riffs through a boosted super lead. If they have enough bark & bite to pull that off, it’s my kinda 335👌

Yeah, pretty much. Gibson has a 60’s model with block inlays that has a real nice neck. Just a nice full C. Not ‘61 skinny and not 50’s chunkfest. This guy had a very similar shape. Basically when I was playing the guitar I didn’t consciously notice the neck which kind of tells you it’s the right one.

Mine doesn't have the blocks but it has the full C shape. It is fairly thick but not a baseball bat. My Edwards has a '59 shape, pretty similar, not too fat, not too thin.....sounds like I need to grab, as @DanTravis62 loves to say, "family photo" LOL. I just got my Edwards back from the luthier for fretwork this afternoon and it plays better than new.

The frets are playable but not ideal. I almost thought I might leave it at the store when I bought it because the repair guy there did my last refret and I would just get some 6105’s in there STAT. But I’ll hang with these for a bit, let the sting of the purchase go down a little before handing over another $400. Plus he took a lot longer than he should on the last one and I didn’t want to buy the guitar and not get to play it for over a month.
The guitar was of a price vs. used Gibson’s that gave me room for doing a refret in my mind.

Gibson has had so many different profiles on a 335 over the years. I would never order one online, unless I was already familiar with the model and year. When I worked at a dealer in the 90’s the neck profile was so slim, within several minutes my hand would cramp.
If I change this bridge 59, I’ll have to see how good my fishing skills are tying off to the pots and switch. I wonder if it goes to the switch first and there’s enough slack to only have to undo the switch?

Thats whats left of my electric guitar "family" LOL but they are both sweet axes. I got a killer deal on the Gibson at GC last october.

I had an ES333 that was my first Gibson. It had an access panel that made it easy to change the pickups but the slim taper neck was kind of a tone suck vs something similar with a thicker neck. I did hundreds of gigs on it and people at every gig would ask me "how old is that" cause the satin finish that I did my best to buff out still looked old. I let it go a few years ago when I got the white Edwards which is a better guitar. Also has hundreds of gigs on it.

Tbh I can't recall if the bridge pup runs to the switch first, but I don't think it does.

Nice. Is that one of the satin finish ones?
No, it's gloss but it's already got miles on it. It was listed at $3499 and I started trying to get them to come down on it at GC because it was a floor model with a couple minor scratches on it. I started talking about trades and he told me "let me scan it" and came back and said $2240 out the door....still too much money, but I couldn't pass it up. Compared to some much higher priced models there it was easily the most resonant, awesome sounding axe.

Congrats on the Heritage! That's a beautiful top, too. Definitely something about the cherry 335s.

I love a good 335! They're versatile and good ones will hang with a LP, even if not quite the same. I think they're really comfortable, too, even if they are big, they just feel good.

For sitting it’s pretty much perfect.

I’ll do a demo of it, but through Modern Red on my Tremoverb. That’ll blow the tan right off any pair of corduroy’s.
