I think I hear more clarity on the Snave soundnclip on the map I think is the SLO. Which is which in what order in the clip there Snave?

I have mine dialed a bit brighter, and a little gainier with a boost in front...I gotta see if i can run the volume at 3-5 without blowing up my phone and make a damn clip....

His sounds very good though!

The red channel on the old 2 chan rectos DOES NOT have negative feedback, this is why they run a fake presence control, that is just a high cut filter after the tone stack. Only the orange channel has NFB. But of course you can set the orange chan to be high gain.

Anyhow your sound clips do sound very similar, you were clearly able to get it to sound like a SLO.

Personally I like the old 2 channel rectos better.

The orange channel presence pot affects the red channel when it's cloned to vintage, so there's still negative feedback. You're right that the red channel's presence knob isn't truly a presence control though.

That clip sounds great. It really is uncanny how similar they sound. Would you care to share the results as to which is which amp? The second one sounds less compressed in the mids to my ear. Thanks.

Thanks! The order in the clip is SLO - DR - DR - SLO. It's only really noticable on the high gain--the SLO is a bit smoother and has a deeper sounding distortion. You can hear a little harshness to both the DR clips that isn't there in the Soldano.

About Ty Tabor: he used the rackmount Dual Rectifier below. The album was recorded in 1993 so no doubt it was a Rev F.
