I don't get the hate. Zakk is a complete badass on the guitar and puts on a hell of a show. I think he still writes some good stuff.

Agree totally! Dude was rippin' in this clip, just awesome.

Zakks awful wankery makes me miss Dimebag terribly.
Dime would have dug Zakk's playing on this clip, I have no doubt about it.

I wouldn't say it was bad. Got pretty monotonous. Especially if he went like this for 40 mins like OP said. Was cool for a little while. A little variation would go a long way. That being said I'd love to have his chops. He hasn't lost any that's for sure.

no one else does what he does better than him

no one else played with ozzy longer, and not many i can list have changed a STYLE of guitar playing (metal) to reflect one little nuance of their playing across so many sub genres (pinch harmonic vibrato).

Zakk's good people.

I'll admit Zakk is playing too many notes even for a die hard fan like me.
He seems to have gotten too adept at alternate picking.
It also makes me want to take off my jacket - he seems so encumbered by hair and leather.
I imagine his arms are stuck in his posing position when he walks around without the guitar.
If he were to strip back the playing and the look he'd free himself up and be ready to rock to the top again.
A forlorn hope, no doubt. I still like the dude, however.

Geez, slow down, phrase a little. Hold a note here and there. Play some cool phrases. Pull the volume on your guitar here and there .

Playing the same two licks over and over really fast may impress some people buts it's not musical and sounds like a kid in GC.

I used to love Zakk. He was amazing on No Rest and P&G. What is it with this guy?

And by the way, I really liked his singing on P&G. His voice has great tone and he wrote some great songs. I guess he's on autopilot.

I know everyone is going to have their opinion and not everyone is going to like the same thing. And that's perfectly fine.

You certainly can't deny the guy's accomplishments & his contribution to music and guitar on a worldwide level.

You guys are more than welcome to post your vids & music doing something at his level. Lots of negativity on this board as of late...it's too bad.

Here's a little Zakk ripping this song to shreds. Randy wrote it , but Zakk owned it...enjoy...or shit on it. Whatever makes you feel good. ;)

I was there and saw this. He was pretty epic. He played like this for 40 minutes straight. never played a bad note.
Reminds me of the modern day YJM. YJM used to kick some serious butt back when he was in Alcatraz. But now when you see YJM live it's the same old washed up Phrygian helicopter boring riffs over and over for 120 minutes.

It just goes beyond overwhelming with repetitive boredom.

It's alright "Zakk" wee get it . . .

saw him on his no more tears first tour with ozzy and he was on fire and the tone screamed

saw him with bls right after dimebag died and it was just a hygiene free sausage festival

he was lit up and mumbled and spit in the air back on to himself over and over to the point of madness

i was swept up into the mosh pit and ended up smashed in front with my chest against the stage right in front of zack as some short bald homo started humping my leg-thought it was just mosh related till i realized he was straddling both sides of my leg and looking into my eyes with a grin!!! so i elbowed him as hard as i humanly could in the sternum and he lifted into the air and literally got sucked into the mosh pit and disappeared into a flurry of punches and shoulder slams

the highlight of the night is when zack threw a few cans of beer into the crowd and one landed on me upside down pouring down my neck but the room was so dang hot that the cold beer was like an ice rinse and it felt killer!

later my friend fell in the mosh pit and a biker kicked him in the face and broke his jaw that night

one for the books!
