Seems like they put it in there just to say they have added some modern feature. I'm curious how many of you run a preamp straight into an IR. I sure as hell don't.

This. There has to be some kind of power amp emulation, otherwise it’ll sound flat and very 2D.

There is. It’s Friedman’s IR-X tech in there, which has power amp sim of some sort.

I’m expecting something similar from Synergy’s preamp system this year as well, since it’s also connected to Friedman.

I would love to have that, though with an SLO 30 that is worth its weight in gold it seems fairly redundant.

I do; the majority of my clips are recorded this way tbh

As for the Soldano pre I'm sure it's badass but the price would have be insanely good for me to choose it over an Astro 20
