Sounds like you got it going on! I know you'll be missed here, but you'll be in demand no matter where you go

I have 3 kids and it is a blessing having family close by. I think your decision is a good one !

Definetally know what you mean. Just moved to NC myself and I am loving it so far, great great state with lots of natural beauty

Wishing you all the best with relocating to NC James! Family always comes first and it sounds like you know deep down that you're making the right choice. I'm sure you will be happy after the move :)

I used to think that NC was "in the sticks" or "way down south in the middle of nowhere" until I visited for work over the past few years.

NC is absolutely awesome. Beautiful scenery. Great little towns. Great cities. Amazing food, history, and culture. FRIENDLY PEOPLE. And a cost of living that puts NJ to shame.

I *wish* I had family there, and a reason to relocate.

Congrats on the move James and good luck! You will love NC, and having family around for the kiddos makes a huge difference!

Lucky bastard. I want to go to Knoxville. Cant convince the wife.

Raleigh/Durham is fucking outstanding. I'd move there now if I could. I travel there probably 2-3 times a year for business, and each time I love going. The BBQ is stellar!!

My wife hasn't been the same since her Mother passed away last year. All her family apart from her Dad in Az live in Georgia and Indiana and NC. She wants to move near family in a big way and my vote is for NC (or Flagstaff maybe). I do dig it here in Washington but have always wondered if I would find more like minded players in NC. Haven't played in a band in over 5 years and kind of miss it but playing classic rock/metal in Seattle, forget about it. If you want to play some bad left over AIC and Tool riffs with other 40 year old guys this is the place.

Good luck with the move, I think you'll dig the change of pace, weather and geography.

Will the studio still run in L.A. or will the space just be rented or sold to another?

James,

Lets go to breakfast next week. I might have some insight for you.

your new amp tech will prob be Doug Hoffman
www.hoffmanamps.com
he's in Piscah Forest NC. hes done stuff for Dickie Betts and the like .. Check him out.

Cool James, good luck to you! I'm in the High Point/Greensboro area about an 1.5 hours away so if you ever wanna hook up and hang/jam let me know! I could bring out my Bogners!

you will love it out there man! I've lived in NC all my life until recently before I moved to Nashville. NC is a great place. Enjoy!

I commend you on thinking of the kids/family.

BTW...I'm playing at Winston-Salem, NC on Oct 29th with a symphony Queen tribute. It's a full rock band with a 50 piece symphony and a 50 piece choir, pretty cool show if you're a Queen fan.

Let me know if you're around NC on that day and I'll dig up a couple of comp tickets for you and the little lady.

You'll like it here. I live in Gibsonville, which is a small town outside of Raleigh. Music scene is ok, we do 6 - 8 gigs per month in the surrounding areas. Hit me up if you need anything.

Just looked on Google Maps...I guess it's not that close to Raleigh, probably a two hour drive.
