...Well Timmons and Stevens have pretty different tones IMO. You already have Timmons. Stevens is a Marshall. Lots of upper mids. Not sure about Steffen Schackinger. Haven't heard him.

I agree, Timmons is NOT the same as Stevens. I like the sweetness of Timmons' tone and the aggression I hear in Stevens' tone. Schackinger is a bit closer to Stevens IMO. Like I wrote in another thread, if I could blend the Lonestar and XTC blue channel I think I would be close to what I'm looking for. I really think the only way I can get there is to get a Marshall (JMC 800 or SL) and have it modded.
For Timmons you have the Lonestar.
Stevens get a Master Volume JMP or a 2203 and an OD pedal. You may not need it modded.

Here's the thing, I'm thinking of a tone that blends Timmons and Stevens into ONE tone...

Yeah, that's what I figure. Although, it would be cool to have the Timmons tone and then kick it in the arse and...voila...Stevens.

get a good ABY box or switcher and run both amps together... LOL! :D
Ridiculous but it might work.

What is this madness...wasn't most of Timmons' studio output done with a Plexi? I know he's using Mesa in his live rig now, but I'd contend you could get most way to Timmons OR Stevens with a modded or boosted Marshall....like Vlad's :D

Yeah Resolution was recorded with a Plexi. LOL! :D
And a Tube Driver pedal. Just thinking practically... He's already got a Lonestar. Lonestar + BB Preamp is Timmon's rig. But the Lonestar is too dark and smooth for Stevens. You can buld a metro amp to '68 spec an boost it with a BB Preamp to see how close you get to both tones...

NO, that's the thing. I like Timmons' tone but I do think his tone is on the dark side and a little too smooth...some would say muddy. I like Stevens tone but would like to hear something a little fuller and sweeter...hence the blended tone of both. :D

That's tough.
You can try a Metro kit. You can find a late 70's MV JMP. With the Metro kit you can tweak it to where you want it.
Because, to be honest what you want will lie somewhere between a plexi and MV JMP.

OK, I confess, I've actually only owned one Marshall...a 900. I hated it and sold it in like a week. I'm not familiar with the Marshall line specifics.

What is a Metro kit?
Are there any new Marshalls that would fit the bill?
Who does a decent job modding?

Yes the 900 kinda blows. The SLX isn't bad. I had an early one that sucked pretty hard... LOL! :D
www.metroamp.com
No... well maybe the VM or the 2203x?
Honestly, before you go modding an amp, you should spend some time with it. Figure out if you can get it to do what you want with a pedal/tube/pickup/speaker change.

I am sure you guys know my past history with gear......so this is a good thing for me.
Trust me....it was not a easy road.

I have a friend just like you and I have no idea how he does it. No GAS what-so-ever.

Live rig or Recording rig? I'm not even close to the recording rig.

Live rig still needs a Monster 3500, an XDR95, Ground Control Pro, Mills Afterburner 4x12 and two Mach 2x12s. some Laboga cables and then I should be able to quit bitchin for a few weeks, okay, throw in a few more Suhrs to and couple of JBL floor monitors, oh and a dedicated roady to help me schlep my gear around.
