I had one in a Soloist for a few years. Great pickup. The only way I can really explain it is that I found it similar to a JB, but it didn't suck where JB's tend to suck.
I put one in my Gary Moore Les Paul along with the Jazz in the neck. I think it compliments the Jazz perfectly. Solid output without being harsh. Warm and full tone in the bridge.
It's got more power and oomph than the Dimarzio 36th Anniv. Fantastic definition and sweetness; cleans up great. I'm never removing it. Similar in output to the Motor City 2nd degree Black Belt but with a bit more power and a bit smoother
I actually can't really compare many Duncans to Dimarzios. For me, Duncans are more raw and open while Dimarzios are usually more processed sounding. While I've never tried the Dimarzio AT-1 Andy Timmons model, I heard that was supposed to be Dimarzio's take on a JB, so it might be similar to that.
