Dude, where did you get that S body? It's beautiful! Did you finish it yourself or had it done by a luthier?

I'm itching to build another. I want to do a J style HSS rear rout in Black Limba (body and neck) with ebony board (no front inlays) and tilt back headstock. Duncan JB and SSL-1's. Not sure yet if I want a Floyd or a Gotoh 510 with nice locking tuners. I'm not a big whammy guy but like to be able to use it from time to time.

That might be my graduation gift to myself when I finish grad school next year.

But that body you've got there is making me reconsider the all black Limba look in favor of a Mahogany back and figured maple top. That's just beautiful! But I want to finish it myself.

Here's my partscaster:

Body is a Warmoth alder in Sherwood Green Metallic.
Neck is Allparts vintage/nitro all maple
Gotoh 510T 6 point trem
Fender Vintage 50's SSS set
Graph-Tech Ghost piezo system for acoustic sounds.

Back in high school around 2003/2004, I bought a AVRI '57 Reissue Strat from Music Go Round here in Chicago. It had an aftermarket neck but I absolutely loved that guitar. I foolishly traded it for a Charvel Model 4 and regretted it within a week but it had already sold from the shop I traded it in to. This was my recreation of that guitar and I think I nailed it.

I also did this guitar as a kit build. Fast Guitars was a storefront for the actual CNC guy who makes the Precision Guitar Kits parts, but he no longer does direct kit orders so you have to go through PGK. This is a chambered mahogany with flame maple front and back. Mahogany neck with ebony board. Sperzels. JB and P-Rails. I actually had the full Graph Tech ghost midi and acoustic system in, but removed the midi because it was introducing a bunch of noise into the circuit. My only regret with this guitar is I wish I had gone for a solid body instead of the chambered for just a little more tightness.

I did this one for my buddy's 30th birthday a few years ago also. Same outfit. All black limba Explorer. Ended up putting a JB/Jazz set into it for him with Sperzel lockers.

Here are mine:

GPmT8At.jpg

Left is a Warmoth body and neck with Gotoh 510 trem and SG360 locking tuners, an EVH low friction pot, a Sanwa killswitch and a Jalen '78.

Right is a KNE body with Pro-Mod neck and hardware, an EVH D-Tuna, a dual-gang push-pull pot and Vineham Granite in the bridge and V59 in the neck.

The Warmoth is finished in Graffiti Yellow, the Charvel is finished in Grabber Blue.

Warmoth that is practically vintage now and on it's second neck.

It’s a chambered Warmoth mahogany body with a maple cap finished be them in what they call Tigers eye. I leave the finishing to the pros.

I’m waiting for my Warmoth neck to arrive. It’s figured mahogany with a Macassar ebony fretboard.

Man there's just something about the vintage trem on these guitars that just looks so cool.

Here's a USA Custom build that I sold. Played and felt wonderful but just had no tone, tried everything. Super light Ash body. I need to replace it...I like having one stratty Strat.

I swapped out the Allparts neck on another Strat build I have with a Warmoth and the difference was night and day for the better. There’s a lot of tone in the neck.

This thread and that Tigers Eye of yours has got the hamster wheel spinning. Honestly, if you could do that one over would you get chambered? How different does it sound?

Definitely. It sounds killer...big and beefy. And they’re light as hell. The body only weighs 3.12 lbs which is super light for mahogany. Total guitar is 7.2 lbs. I’m also sold on roasted maple necks. They’re super stable and feel great. They smell good too.

I have so many - building them is addictive! The flame maple top is the ‘prettiest’ one I have done. The rest are far more utilitarian...

If Warmoth or anybody had Sassafras bodies I'd already be building my own 'Eric Johnson's '57 Virginia' Strat.

Yeah, I really dig satin and tung oiled finishes these days. The body is mahogany. Should sound good with a mahogany neck and ebony fretboard. I just scored the body on Reverb, all wired up with the MCP Detroiter in the pic for $330 shipped/tax. I wasn’t even looking to buy, then I saw this and was like

Those satin finishes look badass. What’s the body wood?
Yeah, I really dig satin and tung oiled finishes these days. The body is mahogany. Should sound good with a mahogany neck and ebony fretboard. I just scored the body on Reverb, all wired up with the MCP Detroiter in the pic for $330 shipped/tax. I wasn’t even looking to buy, then I saw this and was like
What neck shape and frets did you order?
