So who's gotten their Smallbox so far?

It's a little different than a BE-100 BE. A little more mids and vintage-y. But both are in the same Friedman voicing realm.

It's a sick little amp. Sound great at 1/4 to 2/3 volume. No need to push the hell out of it. Really fat too.

$2799 They're a 50W BE on one channel and a Plexi on the other.

Man, this amp sounds like it would be right up my alley. Does the plexi channel stay pretty clean if you set it that way? If so, easy to balance channels? The reason why I ask is because I feel like when many amp makers try to do the fender clean and hot rodded Marshall dirty, there too much of a contrast in going fro mclean to dirty when you switch channels. to me, this design would be more seamless wehn you switch from clean to dirty.

The price is good too. How do think this compares to the Helios in terms of tone? Or are they far enough apart that it's tough to compare?

The clean has it's own gain so it goes from completely clean with plenty of chime to a mild breakup ala Bad Company. And yes it's very seamless when switching channels. I know, some amps sound as though you're switching amps when you change channels. The SB is not that way.

This is by design. Think of the BE to HBE or Blue to Red (XTC) as being the same as the Plexi to BE on the smallbox. It's just an added gain stage. So, the overall voice isn't going to change much. More gain, more compression, but similar voice and structure.

Any new amp days?

I'll be gigging with mine again this weekend.

Some of the GCs seem to be getting them in. Crickets from my dealer though.

There is one at the Halsted GC if you want to give it a go. Destroy All Guitars has them as well.

3 months + 1 week, and counting... How about the rest of you who are still waiting?
