Someone give me a idea for a new OverDrive to do .....

It's a pretty rad cb but a magnum export would be even cooler. I am still a cobra appreciator I just got the 959 instead.

If I had all teh money I'd have to have a couple of the more classic hammarlund ham radios.

my Uncle was a CB'er back in the early 80's .... I remember sitting in the backseat listening to him talking to people .... I couldn't understand a word anyone was saying .... it reminded me of Smokey and the Bandit though .... :giggle:

That's how the internet worked back then.

Roadside trouble you just call it in on the cb radio.

Get you some dual hustler whip antennas and a linear amp and talk to anywhere for free. It's not legal but every one does. As long as you aren't a douche with it you won't have issues. The same can be said for the cheap baofeng handhelds operating on family radio service bands. They are a kid's dream walkie talkie radio with a 16" antenna added, LOL.

Well technically we were originally discussing citizens band radios but I suppose you were impressed by the Hammarlund ham unit and like myself, it dominates your thoughts. Toggelz and huge knobs. Warm, incandescent backlighting. Carefully dialing in a radio transmission for wondrous tones. A marvel of human achievement.

Savage Drive w/ adjustable mids
Blues Driver w/ adjustable mids
Chiron Dlx w/ adjustable mids
Timmy w/ adjustable mids

I hate when an OD adds too much or dulls out the mids. I like the ability to adjust to taste.

Like this….

hmmmmm I kind of like that idea .

let's see how long it takes me to bang it out ... I have some time this morning

you have a name or graphic theme in mind ?
Hmmm.., hadn’t thought about it..
The Kung Pow !? Because it adds flavor
Sweet side (boost), spicy side is the overdrive or distortion?
Use the chicken from family guy… the fist on the spicy side lines up with the LED?
Might be lame, but that’s the first thing that popped into my head

Oh, I missed the Dirty Tree it seems. What is it by design? SD-1 ish?

Some of our guys here had them Lichtlaerms iirc. @FourT6and2 can you elaborate brother?

And the GEQ is a no go because of the GEQ unit itself? Nobody does them?

I have both the King and Yellow and the Aesahaettr. For my needs, I like the Aesahaettr more. I haven't looked at what they are and I probably won't because pedal circuits just aren't my thing. It's probably complicated, what with all the EQ controls and switching. But if someone wants a King in Yellow or the Key and Gate, mine are up on the chopping block.

sides ??? the schematic I found there's only one side ..

I hope we're talking about the same pedal .... this one ... no ??

That’s one. The other is the kollmanation.
The kollmanation is like a koko boost or rocket fuel setup

Nah. You mentioned "ham radio" and my brain started singing the hit single off the Clutch album Strange Cousins From the West.

"It's a reliable source of information."

there's a reason no one does them
Excuse my ignorance, I have no idea why nobody does them to be honest. Is that thing made of some unobtainium or with some unknown process?

Sorry if I bother, genuinely curious.

Oh I thought you would know what’s inside of them.

Have you compared your Aesahaettr to Dirty Tree? Been years since I want to buy myself a boost l, can’t quite figure what to get still

You should build your own boost. You are intelligent enough. Baku Boost.

I just opened one up and it looks like what you'd expect from a high-quality, modern pedal.

I've never tried a Dirty Tree, but I have a 33 and a Grind. I've tried a few other boosts. Right now, my favorites are just a standard Maxon OD808 and the Aesahaettr. Other pedals I also like are the Airis Mid Screamer, Grind, and the MXR M77 Custom Badass OD.

The 808 provides a great, all-around, classic boost. Fairly balanced EQ profile and sounds like what you'd think a boost sounds like.

The MXR Custom Badass OD is very similar to the 808, with an additional button to activate a fixed EQ curve and a low-end (100Hz) contour control. But it doesn't sound all that different from the 808 when set to how I think it sounds best. So I stick with the 808.

The Airis Mid Screamer is cool. Very aggressive sound and it has a parametric mid-range EQ control. You can select the specific mid frequency you want and then there's a +/- boost/cut control for that frequency. It's a cool pedal, but I find myself fucking around with it more than playing guitar. Those midrange controls have a lot of power and I never know when enough is enough, so I sit there fucking with the pedal too much. But it does sound great.

The 33 and Grind are very similar. Probably a single resistor or cap value change between the two. I prefer the Grind because it's slightly less clanky and bright. For me, this boost only works with amps that are dark and round. It pairs perfectly with my KSR Orthos MKII because this amp has a deep, massive low end and a rather "round" attack. So a bright, clanky boost like the Grind or 33 pushes the amp into tighter territory without being overly bright.

The King in Yellow sounds kinda similar to the 808 when talking specifically about just the basic boost functions. But it also has EQ controls that are permanently in the circuit, along with a three-way clipping switch to tailor the character of the distortion (symmetrical, asymmetrical, LED), and a switchable parallel FX loop. The boost controls are what you would expect: gain and level. Set gain to zero and level to taste and it behaves like a typical boost.

The Aesahaetrr is very similar to the King in Yellow, except instead of a switchable loop, the EQ is switchable. So you have separate boost and EQ that you can use together or just one or the other. And the boost itself has a gain control and a cut control, to help shape the low end. I prefer this pedal to the King in Yellow, but this thing has a ton of gain on tap and I have to run the boost at a much lower level than you'd think. It sounds similar to the 808 but it's tighter and more aggressive.

I run the 808 for that classic metalcore sound and the Aesahaetrr for more of a modern djenty kind of thing.

Thank you for the detailed answer and for opening pedal for me too. From the looks of it Grind might be cool with SLO, to make the bass tight for rhythm stuff. Aesahaettr also sounds promising.

Too bad can’t try stuff from Amazon with a return policy like US people can. Blind buy is risky.

You should build your own boost. You are intelligent enough. Baku Boost.
That would cost tenfold to me to be honest. Sourcing parts, crazy delivery prices and times, trial and error costs are summing up to more than I can spend.

I had to bring the damn 3m high grit polishing papers from abroad because ain’t no shit is being brought here. Same with proper delicate surface painter tape. Can’t find an original roll of 3m even.

What about an SD1/OCD type circuit or a dual OD pedal maybe double 808s or Klon+808 or 808+SD1 with a built in Noise Gate/Noise Clamp that you could have on even when it's in bypass mode.....

Sounds useful and you get a lot of utility out of that one pedal.
