Steve Vai’s house for sale - gear pics

Interesting. The area my wife is trying to convince me to move to is McKinney Tx . I know nothing about TX . I do know there is a killer guitar store there called Guitar Sanctuary , but I would miss the mountains though as we came from Colorado to Travelers Rest SC so moving again and going to flat TX is something I am really struggling with if my wife keeps pushing the idea.

I lived close to that area 15 years ago. It's pretty nice for a flat area, but it gets extremely hot in the summer and, there's no basements if a tornado is coming your way. The soil in the Dallas area doesn't work well with basements, so most homes do not have them. That scares the crap out of me when there's a nighttime tornado.

How many tornadoes did you experience?

I'm not a fan of flatlands unless there are palm trees and beaches. McKinney=DFW=flat. Ain't no way I'd leave Traveler's Rest for that no way. You want to visit the TX hill country which starts around Austin and runs to the San Antonio area and westward (for the most part). I gotta blues fest June 6th, come on down, you won't be disappointed.
I have been arguing with my wife about this and at this point she says she's going eventually with or without me, so that's what I'm dealing with as of late. I am beyond upset about this. Still trying to figure out the best way to change her mind without her thinking I'm trying to change her mind... Marriage... it's not for the weak of heart... :dunno:

We had a 80-90 mph wind storm once in the North Dallas area, but not an actual tornado.

I did have an EF2 go over my townhome back when I lived in Kansas in 2003. We had no basement in that townhome and we were fortunate to not be hurt. My roommate's car was tossed into another car and totaled. They are rare, but not impossible.

I don't blame Vai one bit. I also doubt he desperately needs that 11 mil. San Diego is pretty and clean(er) but no way I would move there - although much better than LA imo. Glad to hear he has already taken most of his amps and favorite guitars etc. Funny story - my phone says 'Ladies' Night In Buffalo' is the last song played - from when I was at my cabin last :D

I've been to Dallas/FTW maybe 8 times or so and was always struck with how flat it is. That would drive me crazy. I need some topology man

I can understand this from a personal level as my wife and I have been contemplating a move to another state to be closer to her family and I am really not excited about it one bit.

Same thing happened to Colorado after we foolishly thought that voting for weed to be legalized was a great idea and little did we know that everyone was packing up from everywhere else and moving there is the thousands every month and basically turned Denver into mini Los Angeles with the traffic and drove the prices up so damn much we had to leave . We miss Colorado , but couldn't even afford to move back now without living in a dump that would still cost over 700.000

Colorado is like California. Fun to visit, but wouldn't want to live there. I usually take the metro from the airport to the city and I'm shocked at how many subdivisions have popped up or in the process of being built. It is almost not fun anymore. Like @VonBonfire was somewhat saying - I don't get the fascination with weed becoming legal either. I don't smoke any more or less of it now that it is legal in Missouri. Never stopped me before. I guess the main benefit is I can get gummies delivered to my house now

Maybe you should ask her to split the difference and move to New Braunfels instead as a compromise. Hills, german food, friendly people, conservative, good hunting laws, a good music scene, and the rivers. It's beautiful out this way right now.

McKinney and the surrounding area is overrun by H-1B Indians. That is a fact. Think school classes, 80% of the kids in a lot of the classes are Indian. So, if you had a kid in 3rd grade and there are 20 kids, 16 would be 1st generation immigrant Indian. They stick together and mostly do not assimilate. Do some research. Call me what you want for this statement, but it is 100% fact and the demographic shifted massively in the last 15 years in that area.

Odd info. I guess I don't have a response to this ? I do love some good Indian food though! Anyone up for some good Tikka Masala? :p

They did the same thing to us 2 hours down the road in Chattanooga.

I don't understand Chattanooga's growth. What industry is moving there? I had to move away after college in the early 2000s to find a tech job. Every time I go back to visit family I'm like "where are all these people coming from?".

Me either. I guess because we have no income tax and property USED to be cheap, but retards KEEP moving here. I feel worse for Nashville and Knoxville and their surrounding towns. They keep on and keep on building more neighborhoods and apartments. My friends and I are wondering where all the people that are supposed to fill these places are working, because our biggest places are VW or Amazon, that's about it as far as big places.

when i worked in tv i had the unique opportunity to film in 49 of the 50 states. missed Alabama!

there are still some really beautiful and spacious destinations in every state for sure, but the overall livability of the major US cities has shockingly declined.

i remember the first So Cali mass exodus to northern cal, Oregon, and Washington and how much the recipient towns hated the influx of rude city knuckleheads.

Been up to the top of Look Out Mt so many times I've lost track. How is Asheville doing? Are they back on their feet? I'd live there in a heartbeat - at least I would have :(

PS: Hina is my favorite song with Vai on it. I love the light and heavy back and forth.
