Would love to try one but no GAS at all. I like a lot of the clips I've heard lately. Maybe someday but the Mark IV hits my spot for now.

I should get to hear an AxeFX this weekend. I'm very curious to hear one, but as of now, I'm not GAS'ing for one. I'll let you know if that changes after hearing it. lol

Oh yes, you'll play through one alright. We may stick it through a power amp too... I haven't done that yet.

I really don't need the flexibility of the thing. I have my ultimate amp and it does the tones I want. Of course I could play other styles but I don't and don't want to. So no gas here. In fact, I may not buy another amp... ever!

While I think that the AFX is probably a great unit, I have absolutely no GAS for one. Now a blackface super reverb on the other hand...

I'll bet you will be surprised. ;)

had one...returned it...didnt trip my trigger.

I think for DI or low volume tones its useful...but once you've experienced the pant-flapping beauty and majesty of a 100 watt tube amp cranked way up thru a 4x12, you're spoiled and there is just nothing from the digital realm that can compete with that for tone.

Have you tried the Axe-FX through a tube Poweramp thru a 4x12 Cranked? I have and it rips!!

Don't get me wrong, i fully know that not everyone is going to dig the thing but I was just wondering if you tried it when you had it!!!

Not lately...I had one of the first AXE's when they came out...its been a year (or more) ago. I originally bought primarily for effects not the amp models...though I did want to be able to use the amp models as a back up in case my amp shot craps during a gig. Now even though I only wanted it primarily for the effects, I was told, even promised, nay even dared, that the amp models would make me give up my tube amps - which at the time consisted of: '68 Marshall Plexi; Wizard Vintage Classic; Komet Concorde. So anyway once I dug into the AXE I found the effects good, but deeper than I really needed (strike one)...and I found the amp models incapable of giving me a decent low gain crunch (strike two). IMO, they werent even good enough to use as a back up. I think maybe the AXE and all modelers struggle to get good low-gain crunch tones, but again this was when they first came out...perhaps later software updates have improved this? Once I tried out the models and was totally disappointed, I was then told (by the same people that promised me they would rock my world), "well of course it doesnt sound quite as good as a real tube amp...you didnt really expect it to be as good, did you?" Well yeah I did...I was told it would be as good...but not even close. At the time I was using a VHT 2/50/2 power amp...if I get a chance to try one out again, I'd run it thru a higher powered amp like my MESA 2:90 or my ENGL 850/100...still the VHT shoulda been good enough...and all my cabs (except one, lonely 2x12 that is seldom used) are 4x12's. ENGL PRO cabs, Bogner 4x12, Hand-wired Marshall, and Marshall 1960BV...and there's only one volume for me when it comes to guitar: f-ing A loud. It just didnt sound good to me when A/B'd to my tube amps...but different strokes for different folks. Now that said, when we have our Kansas City Amp Fest, I'll give the AXE another go if one shows up, but I'm not overly optimistic that it will hold a candle to a real tube amp and I don't have any GAS for one.

Oh and strike three for the AXE for me was that it took up 2 rack spaces...to keep it would have forced me to go from an 8 space rack to a 10 space rack in order to accomodate it.

no interest so far, mainly cuz i got shit all money for any form of new gear

I'm just not that interested in it.

It seems cool, but I've learned the hard way:

seemingly knowledgeable, respected forumite (regardless of forum) does not equal "my ears".

~~$2k is a lot to spend on something that might not be cool in 3 months. Plus, I've never heard a modeler live that could hang with the kind of shit I have.

I'm just sayin'.

I'm not convinced.

I have no Axe-FX gas..... ;)

FWIW, everyone talk about the price being too high, hell I spent as much on a Triaxis, as I did on my Axe, so I didn't see the problem. :D

I've got a nice VHT 2/50/2 and a stereo cab it might sound good with! Maybe we can arrange something??

I think it's a great tool and a tremendous leap forward for modeling technology... But at this point, I have every tone I want at my disposal, so I don't have any gas for it.

I'm officially not interested in owning one. I'd love to play with one and check it out, but there's no way I could justify the cost unless I was much more into the production or live playing side of music.

Nope. I still have my Digitech GSP21Legend pro with footboard from the early 90's. All sorts of cool stuff in there lol.

Actually I would like to try one but dont have the cash or the time at the moment.
