The ultimate Friedman 100w head....

Also had a high/ low voltage switch similar to the Phil X installed on the front panel. I love that switch.

I just had a 100/50w switch added to the back. Very useful. I had pulled two tubes recently and really liked the sound and feel. The switch completely removes the two tubes from the circuit without having to physically remove them.

Amp is full 2016 spec and has the SS100 clean channel.

Cool options. I love the low power switch on my amps. Browns stuff up nicely. I took it further and had pentod/triode switch added to my CCV. Adds such a different sound and feel to the amp.

Incredible setup and amp, Jeremy! Many congrats! Love the look of the amp!

I have a BE-100 modified by Dave with many of the same features, though I love the idea of the SS-100 clean....I totally dig the BE-100 clean as is, but know the SS tone to be harmonically richer...

Great looking amp!

Is the front control you speak of called "sag" ???

SS100 without the mid control? So, basically 2/3's SS100 clean :D

Yes, this amp started as a BE100. Its currently in a Butterslax style head shell. I'm not really into the huge plexi head shells anymore. Most my amps have smaller boxes.

The control is not called "sag." It's called "Reponse."

I've been playing with the amp more. The Response control really helps shape the overall tone. Adds so much more flexibility.

Looks very cool!! Love to hear some clips, especially of the response knob moving.

I really should make some clips. I've got to get my Two Notes Torpedo out and set it up. Haven't used it in a while.

I've been running the Friedman w/d/w with a Matrix GT1000FX. Sounds amazing and huge.

It's the "hype-knob" on the far left. As you turn it clock-wise, it transforms the amp from the pre-2016 circuit into the even better 2016 circuit and as you go further it begins to incorporate the even more better 2017 updates. As it maxes out on 11, you get to unobtainium level, a special circuit that has a 5 year wait to retro-fit on your lesser 2014 BE.

That is great.

And true.

I really liked my BE100, except that it seemed the day I got it, a new version came out with some minor update that made it THE BEST BE100 EVER AND ALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS ARE NOW DEVALUED.

Anyway, cool custom amp. I'd love to hear it...

Get a small mixer and run both wet and dry in your "wet" cabs. Thank me later.

Dave is right! I have 2 racks both pretty much set up the same way...

Furman Voltage Regulator
MLC Custom Dual Stereo Line Mixer
Lexicon MPX-1
Matrix GT-1000

The mixer makes a huge difference.

The funniest thing about it is that the hype is all owners... if you notice Dave is completely low-key about changes to the amps

Just picked up my Friedman from Dave yesterday. It's been an evolution of changes and mods to create what I believe is the best amp I own (the Butterslax is pretty good, too). Of course, when I say "ultimate", it's totally subjective and just what fits my personal style.

Living in LA certainly has its downsides like traffic and politics, but being within driving distance of Friedman's shop is an undeniable plus. Not only do I love the brand, but I can't say enough about Dave's passion in getting the tone in YOUR head to come out of HIS amp. Just a stellar guy to deal with.

This is the one amp that will never leave my collection. One of the controls on the front is a feature that is absolutely genius and I believe this is the first amp, and probably only outside of the shop, with it at the moment...

Awesome. My guess is the "Response" knob is varying the NFB resistor, perhaps a 50k pot in series with the standard 47k NFB resistor, that would vary between 47k and 97k
Pretty much giving you old spec., and new spec.

Nice! I gotta try that. Does the Lexicon have good delays? I want a 2290 but don't want to deal with it breaking and not being able to get parts.

That made me laugh.

Some of you guys are way too knowledgeable. Seriously. Kinda scary ha.

What's funny is that I felt the 2015 circuit was too dark and did the 2016 update a while ago. And currently, I have the Response set at 9 o clock, with the 50w switch engaged. Depth at 3 o clock. I really can't emphasize how much more tonal shaping is possible with the control.

The Response knob will get you to 2015-ish feel and sound when all the way down. Stock sounding 2016 at around 11 o clock. And just gets punchier and more open from there.
