There are a ton of good metal bands out there..

Seriously good metal out right now, we are in a Renaissance for METAL right now!


BUT you ARE right.

There are way too many "sucky" metal bands out there.

Check out this awesome band I think is not Sucky.

Nothing personal, but this doesn't even qualify as music. Banging away on drop-tune 4th intervals to utter Ad nauseam with no rhyme or reason... Then again, my dad use go ape-shit whenever I played Aerosmith's "Rats In The Cellar", so...

The local scene in Central Ohio has a ton of good metal bands, more solid acts than I can ever remember. What surprises me is the amount of talented youngsters out there.

These guys are from down the road a bit (Cincinnati) but play Columbus a lot. I 'm pretty sure none of them are old enough to buy beer. ^^^

I like the 3rd one the best, but none of the vocals tbh. LOG is about as cookie monster as I can handle from a vocal standpoint. I mean the 2nd band had super fun lyrics, but they had to post them on the video so you knew what he was saying hehe! It was still really cool and fun though. I think in y'alls neck of the woods, you've always had good heavy stuff. Probably because it's cold and everyone is pissed about it? Even here you will see some stuff like you posted, BUT you have to go through tons of SUCK to find 1 or 2 decent bands. My lonly gripe with stuff like you posted is that they tend to only play one basic speed on every track, and one style. Other than that, yeah they can play, and they are fun. I just like a little Down, Prong, and BLS type stuff thrown in there to mix it up a bit.

I don't like Van Halen. This isn't a "if they're too loud, you're too old" thing. Most dudes my age play classic rock and blues. In fact I still play heavier stuff than most of the kids here. I wrote this original post right after struggling to find a way to tell a few bands that I don't want to be on their bill, because they were so sucky, so take it for what it's worth. If you read my last post, I said that I thought the 3 videos had skilled playing on them. And yes, to each their own......."dude."

Yeah that's not my thing. That's not a metal band, but a pop band. Nothing against them cuz there is some pop that I like that I won't admit too lol, but I'd rather listen to some Machine Head or Sepultura any day of the week. I like guys that sing like guys, but I just want to know at least some of what they are saying, and I want me some GROVE!!!!!!!!! Grove or DIE!!!!!!!!!!!

That's like a slightly heavier "Final Countdown" type song. (I hated FC when I was a kid, and it still makes me want to shoot myself!) Still not metal, but I'm glad you have a band that you like.

Iron maiden is a metal band...
Heat is a metal band...
Sabaton is a metal band...
Slayer is a metal band...

On strictly a local club level there are some terrible bands!

That being said that is one band locally that i have high hopes for, i go to most of their shows and they rarely disapoint.

Easily the best band in the area and and up and coming NWBHM act.

Check them out!

They cover this often, goes down great!

There are some good ones, but I'm talking mainly about at the "local club scene" level.

How old are you? I remember when I was 21 and "into" the scene and all the bands and everything.........and there would always be that 40's something guy lurking around who was friends of a friend and he thought everything sucked and it was better when HE was young. He always had that sarcastic smile when he heard new stuff, he was never impressed by anything.........and I remember thinking it was wierd for a 40 year old to hang around 20 year old's

Dude, that's why I was done with Bars/Clubs at 35. I refused to become that guy..

I couldn't imagine trying to play in clubs/bars now unless it's a more suburban/rural scenario with as many old goats in the audience as on the stage. I'm 43 years young but it might as well be 83 when I look back on my years in my early 20's in the bars and clubs playing.
