Reload is a fantastic unit but it has one HUGE oversight. You can't send a through signal to your amp so you can record the DI while you track a real amp. I mean who wants to use a shit amp sim or play clean with no dynamics? I honestly can't believe they overlooked it. I still like it though but that is a huge bummer and I feel like it is just easier for me to use the Radial stuff. On the radial side, I tried the radial JCR studio reamper and didn't like it, am happy enough with the ProRMP . It is a staple in a lot of studios for a reason. Yes there are fancier boxes but really, cranking the amp is the goal and most beneficial difference to your tone.
Reamping is a fun rabbit hole to go down though. I have been thinking about just doing impulse responses of all my possible speakers/mics so I don't have to puts with the reamping but there is something romantic and right of passage about reamping and pushing your own speakers into sweet sweet saturation. Like moving up from sports illustrated swimsuit edition to Hustler magazine when you are 14.
